The Dance of Death
by MazHur Butt

what are these able-bodied
young and handsome men
doing here in hell?
why are they loaded with
arms and ammunition?
what are they looking for?
have they found anything so far?
how long their search will go on?
how long people will keep dying
how long these young men in uniform
carry their crippled brothers
on their shoulders?
how long their dead bodies
will continue to be transported
back to their homes?
how long the innocent will keep dying
and burried without pall and coffin?
how long will the desperate
keep killing themselves
and all those around them?
how long will this drama go on
how long this insanity?
how long this collateral loss
shall be allowed last?
Is there no one to stop this rampage,
this deprecation of humanity
this maniacal episode of continuing history?
how long the war will go on
how long people will keep dying
unnatural deaths
when will the main culprits
suffer their fate?
how long will this world be in hell?
how long will the vested interests
keep the dance of death going?
how long the mirror will reflect
shadows chasing after shadows
until it's broken and shattered
to pieces?

Are you studying World War One? Lots of imagery in that poem, it's good in exploring numerous idea and images. Seems to link some poems from WW1 i've read previously.

thanks for your comments, RPMI. War is a War and this poem could be taken to allude any of it. However, I did not write it with context to WW1

related to no specific war but any war wherein soldiers are killed, lives of innocent civilians lost, cities ruined, etc etc
