My name is Jake and I was raised as a roman-catholic. I had a close relationship with "God" until I was about 12. At this point I began to notice things that disturbed me and eventually crooned me from the church itself. The main thing that upset me was the common distrust and ill-intent of other religions. I found this common not just with the catholic population but all variations of Christianity. It shook me to the core really, from what i understood of the common christian faith was acceptance of all races and creeds... transcendance of our evils through common love..... They all share so much in common; values, courtesies, morals.. why does it have to be than their is only one true religion in so many peoples eyes?? Has this not been the downfall of many religions of the past? Why cant people truly love and accept each other for what they are??? It is the base of all my fears, what keeps me up at night....
i would enjoy insight into this from everybody .....Thanks

I was also raised Roman Catholic, and realised that as well. I have always accepted people for who they are not who the world thinks they should be. I have tried to get as far away from the idea that some Catholics do believe that they're religion is the only one that is right and everybody else is surely wrong. I am still Catholic, but I try to get myself involved with churches, pastors, and people that accept other religions and respect other religions. Instead of looking at the negative part of Catholocism and the church, I look at all the positives as well as not going to churches that are so critical of other religions. I believe that we as Roman Catholics have a small piece of the cake and every other religions have other small pieces also, and we will never figure the whole truth out until we die.

I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.
