Our school is performing Kaufman and Harts' George Washington Slept Here. Everything is going fine; there's just one line I can't seem to figure out. You see, the character Newton bought a dumpy house without ever seeing it, and his wife Annabelle is verbally attacking him about it. The scene is thus:

Annabelle: Didn't you ask any questions before you said yes? Didn't you look at any papers?
Newton: I certainly did.
Annabelle: What - P. M.?

The question: what does she mean by P. M.? I found it as a newspaper on Wikipedia, and the time period is correct. I just want to make sure I'm not just being stupid and missing something obvious. Am I right, or misinterpreting it?

Thank you!:thumbs_up

 thats funny!

Yes i think it is in reference to the newspaper. Shes being sarcastic. He's says he's read the Papers, which i'm assume are the house deeds and records etc, and she doesnt believe him and replies sarcasticly "what- the P.M?

Ok - thanks, I was just making sure I was right. It would have been bad to tell the actors it meant something different!
Thanks again!
