The Spider !
by Mazhar Butt

Here comes gliding by a hanging thread
Our eight-leg-ged joint-bodied Arachnid

Akin to Insects yet physically so different
Eight simple eyes, no wings, no antennae to scent

Call him Daddy-LongLeg or whatever you may
He won't stand up like a statue of clay

This ubiquitous creature without wings
Rolls, glides, walks, whisks and springs

Housed in a spun web of silken thread
This crawler basks in the center of his bed

Flies, mosquitoes, bugs and mites
Are food for him, his potato frites

You can find him hidden and hunting oft
Behind nooks and corners, in lawn or loft

This crabby looking guy called the spider
Looks so sweet to his crooked mother

He's a friend of man, enemy of pests
Don't be afraid of him and rather feel blest

Spiders are protectors of environment
Unwanted insects they kill for nourishment

Spiders are a kind of solitary reapers
Some with their legs covered with hairy sleepers

Thin and stout, long and short
Spiders are crawlers of a different sort

Some are colored some are gray
They live in houses, barns and hay

They are shy and wouldn't bite
Unless you would poke them, right?

Some Spider's bite could be venomous
They are rare so don't worry and make fuss

Wow , here comes my heart-love Tarantula
I will sing him a song and he'll do cha cha cha

Never, never harm the spider , they say
Spiders are like prophets in a way

Mysterious are they like their cobwebs fine
For gnats and flies a noose's the silken twine

Nobody can do what a spider can
You can see his glimpse in the Spider Man

Killing a spider is said to bring bad luck
Love these jewels of nature, be a nice buck.
