Came up to this accidentally http://prt.psp.ee/olympics.swf afterwards I watched most of animations made by this Bozzetto. Some can be found here:http://www.flashtoons.org/autori.php?iniziale=9 especially the one comparing Europe and Italy but the works by others also might be good (didn't have time to check them).

Koa's a girl. ;) And yes, she's from Verona. She and I both like venting our frustrations about our respective countries. :D

Bozzetto is a genius and that film (I've seen it before) is hilarious, ingenious and ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!! The bits about buses and about crossing the road are sad reflections of my daily life!

Btw, I hope I'll be able to follow the Olympics (I love big events) even if I'll be abroad by that time, might not have a tv and most of all won't understand a word of it :D

Edit: Oh I had seen the one about sports all ready...too funny, esp. the diving!

God, that was hilarious! The one about the bus was specially funny. Thanks emily for that. Obviously, this guy's never been to Argentina, otherwise he wouldn't complain that much about italians. In fact, here it's much worse than that.

Does anyone know when the real Olympics are starting? First it sounded like the Athens stadium wouldn't be finished in time, now I hear they'll be going ahead despite all the American runners being investigated for drugs...but the one thing I'm not hearing is an official date. It's getting late, isn't it? I'm used to seeing tons of commercials about the "countdown to the opening ceremony" on NBC in the weeks prior, but I haven't heard a peep.

Really??? Great!!! I thought it was in September and I was going to miss it!

I'm certainly missing the world championship of cycling (my dad is a huge fan of this sport so i'm bound to care at least a bit), which will be held in my hometown for the second time in 5 years...Hope i'll see it on tv at least :D

Got news about Olympics from Get Active yesterday...

"The upcoming Olympics are supposed to represent the triumph of
humanity (the theme of this year's games is "celebrate
humanity.") Isn't it ironic that the workers in Fila's factories
making clothes for the athletes are forced to endure
exploitative conditions for poverty wages with few rights and no
hope of improving their lives? That's no way to celebrate
humanity!

An investigation into conditions at Fila's factories in China,
Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia found
workers being forced to work until midnight without any advance
warning before an export deadline. If they refused, they risked
losing their jobs, jobs they needed very badly to support
themselves and their families. Workers at one Chinese factory
were even fined $6 for each mistake they made! "

Not trying to rise any political issues here, just want to show you all the other side of this world wide game that is going to be held soon!!

Ugh, I know. That happens with all sportswear, I'm sure. Most of it anyway, and it makes me sick. I won't go further, because that would lead into the subject of a political issue that's talked about constantly in America right now. Suffice to say that historically, whenever something grandiose is happening, there's always people elsewhere being made to do the dirty work.

I'm also upset to hear that I'll miss the last week of the games! The Olympics are the only sports I ever enjoy, and I actually look forward to them. In 2002 I was in Paris for the last half without a TV, this year I'll be on a camping trip for the first week of college. :( So I won't even be able to keep tabs on here. Oh well, post everything interesting that happens and I'll read it when I get the chance. :)

BASKETBALL! it was my absolutely favourite sport before they spoilt it here (never really liked NBA, one of the reasons I dont follow it much anymore is that they made the rules more similar to NBA)... then football/soccer why not... And cycling, cos it's a family matter (my dad is a fanatic of it...) But then in the Olympics I watch anything :)
