Tender Memories
--To Z·W
By Ji Po

In depressing eventide
flying are the birds

Stories have been told
about the southern cities
He arised
and went through the April-mist

At this time of day
Many people are doomed to die

I'm leaning on the windows
Watch him walking out of bamboo fenses
Turning
and disapearing

Lanterns towards night
are like myriads of vagrants

Maybe five years later
I'll not be so angry and so sullen
that make me write poems like this

Night is waiting for the sacrifice of daylight
Being besieged and piteous
Wandering on the edges of cities

Stories have been told
about the southern cities
He arised
with his coat flapping in wind
which was made the pride of this season
