have you ever looked at the edge of a book you are in the process of reading and been totally horrified by the way that the pages you've already read look significantly dirtier that the pages you have yet to reach? Or am I the only one with dirty hands that this happens to?

I've noticed it before, and I just thought of it when I was looking at my Italian dictionary. I read stuff in Italian, but I never have to produce anything in Italian. So I use the Italian-English half of the dictionary much much more than I use the English-Italian half of the dictionary. And you betcha, the Italian-English half of the book looks sooo dirty compared to the other half. Blech!

maybe you should read while wearing latex gloves? that might work :D
just kidding. I hate when my book jackets get bent :(

It bothers me so much when I get books from a used book store and there are all sorts of stains. I mean, how hard is it to take decent care of a book? The books I bought new have a little wear on them, yeah, but they're still pretty decent looking.

I don't care much as long as the text is readable.
