When considering the difference between Big Brother (which represents the system, which is rigid and mechanical, masculine), Julia represents the soft, yeilding suppleness of female, woman, mother... Big Brother is the Yang, where Julia is the Yin. It is with the dark, female power that revolution is inseminated and the fertile ground from which it grows. This is specifically why attraction in INGSOC society is emasculated. The passion of life is turned towards a passion for big brother. What I find curious however, is the way the Junior Anti-sex league is portrayed as whereing tight sashes that show off the curves of the female body... It still seems a bit of a tease.
