Temper your love with kindness.
It is such a little virtue, kindness,
compared with Valour and Honour,
the Love of Country, Chastity
and all the other biggies, no more
than the humble glue that holds these,
and us, together.

Sweeten your love with laughter,
Joy and a merry heart--
Delight yourself by the fullfillment
Of the purity of happiness unharnessed
little colt kicking up its heels...

Not in the same class, but who can compare with Prince and Pen?

Soften your heart with love.
Make it malleable and giving.
Let it spread joy and happiness.
To all that you know
and to all those who are near.
Be kind. Be true.
Because only then can
It receive what it has given.

I'll just follow lead, then :p

Cushion your love with warmth.
One genial glance will save
the world from sighs,
from eyes averse.

P.S. Not in the same class, but who can compare with Uncle Prince, Uncle Pen, and sweet Granny? :)

Share your love with friends
like Symphony and Pen and Sassy S,
the Belle of the Ozarks!

Treat your love like a lighter-than-air
balloon inflated with joy!
And let it fly! Let it soar!

Sow your love among your friends like seeds,
See how it grows and prospers...
How Jew loves the Gentile and Gentile the Jew,
How Old loves the young, the Established the New,
For we sow seeds of love and water them with tears of joy--
No water so Holy in all of the world.
Now the one with Doubt and the Believer can find harmony,
We can reach arcross bounds and declare ourselves free.
Sowing the love,
Reaping the Fellowship--
Walking together
Along Life's endless brown ribbon...

Spread your love wide,
like a blanket large enough
to seat your most beloved friends,
then set out a picnic for them
of laughter and shared memories,
and, oh yes, invite
a stranger or two!

Season your love with healthy doses
of patience and generosity,
for it is only through the giving
that we may receive,
and it is only through the waiting
that we shall realize the dreams
that our hearts so fervently desire.

Express your love with actions as well as words,
Never take it for granted this gift we can share--
If one would have friends,
One must show themselves to be friendly
Love is only love when it becomes shared
Let us warm up the tea
And find places for all
Roll out the velvet red carpet:
Company always welcome to come calling...

and, oh yes, invite
a stranger or two!

*raises an eyebrow*....
:p

And treasure your love
with moony dreams;
caress it
with a touch of earnest hope;
love Love, for it’s the only thing
that is yours
and yours only.

Pour Your Love out

But pour your love out
as if with a drunkard’s hand
working his way down
the length of the bar.
Don’t measure it!
Don’t measure it!

Measured love is like the punishment
that too exactly fits the crime.
Spend it! Spend it
unwisely!

Love is not a thing
to be wise about. Let investors
be wise and nickel and dime
their way through life.
Be profligate!
Be profligate!

The prudent lover is the miser
reading his balance sheet
in a cupboard by the light
of a single, dim, overhanging bulb.

Love is not a thing
to be wise about.

In my experience, love and wisdom don't live in the same universe.

How is it that love can be so small,
so invisible, so unobtrusive,
so much a part of our very beings
that we might even forget it's there?
And yet simultaneously,
it can be so encompassing, so overwhelming,
so electrifying, so stupefying....
that it can forever change our view of the world,
drive away our logic and replace it with insanity,
transform fantasy into reality
and reality into fantasies?
