View Full Version : Catharsis
After having wondered if the reason why I don't like some sort of poetry is its happiness, I felt like posting my happiest thingy... Aww it was a very great moment. Even I can feel good sometimes lol :D
CATHARSIS
My body stretched out in the sun
the tears stopped behind my closed eyes
the orange light is all I can see.
The breeze makes my warm skin shiver
the pleasant heat makes me feel almost reborn.
My soul is too full to care of any needs.
I'm on top of the world.
But I should go back to life
- so-called life!-
soon.
29th March 2004
(no you won't have me writing dates the American way!:D ;))
(PS as usual, have a look at the grammar (is 'stretched' correct?) for me! Thanks :))

The grammar's all good. But Koa, it's so...optimistic. ;)
You know I'm just kidding you. Just couldn't think of anything to say.
LOL yeah I know it's not sad enough *repents and promises not to have good moments again* :D:D:D
Yeah well, thought so...that noone had anything to say... but you know, the remote hope that someone just missed it... The show-off hidden in me had to put it up :D
And thanks about the grammar, the concern is always there when I realise all this writing in English might be a bit pretentious (who am I to think I can master it so well?)

I think this is a great poem Koa - sorry I missed it at first. I don't always get time to visit this site. I like the feeling that the poem has, that troubles are far away, lulled and soothed by the sunshine. I like the line, 'the tears stopped behind my closed eyes' which speaks of unhappiness which for the moment is put 'on hold' . I didn't even realise that you arn't English Koa - your English is perfect and you shouldn't put yourself down so much.
I wish England was warm enough to sunbathe!!!

i don't know what happened that this wasn't on "new posts" when i clicked. mea culpa as well. i like this...like getting a poetry tan. very lulling, but with the juxtaposition of the tears, like drowning behind your lids. beautiful, sunny and bluesy. how did you do that?
Miranda, I'm going to be in England soon, and in days like this I'm looking forward to it cos it's as humid as a tropical forest and every move is a pain... Btw I detest to sunbathe, but the poem was written in March, the sun in spring is not so horribly hot and the wind was fresh, I had my famous purple jacket on :D... Not like damn summer. I'm starting to like spring
Oh, as for the English, I know my internet addiction made it almost perfect, at least when I write, but it's pretentious to think it's so perfect that poetry comes like I was a native... and if there are mistakes, I can't spot them so I need a feedback on that :)
Oh now I feel guilty about having put it up cos you noticed you missed it... I'm not a professional show-off yet :D
You know, that day I had lots of free hours between lessons cos a teacher was missing, and I took a long walk and climbed up to one of my favourite places: a little hill from where I can see the city from high (I might have a pic to put up)... At first I got depressed cos of course there were couples there, and wrote a sad thingy, then I moved on another side (there's a sort of 'castle' there) and there was noone so I even lied on the wall (lol falling from there might hurt) and it was really a cathartic experience... Then people came, men dressed in suits, probably people working in bank or stuff that on their lunch break go there... sweet ;) I might have looked like some sort of junkie lying there, but I wasn't caring :D I would have never wanted to move from there...
amuse, lol, thanks for the 'poetry tan'... much better than a bloody 'look I've been on holiday' tan :D

Certainly better than a "poetry burn." :p Which is all I'd get.
I sympathise with the humidity, Koa. It's 20C/70F here right now, but the windows are closed and the AC's on because it's *still* like 73% humidity (we have a useless little gadget on the wall that tells us). It feels like you could take your feet off the ground and swim in the air outside.
Sorry. Somehow I managed to take another thread completely off-topic. No one respond to this! :D Talk about Koa's poem!
I decide what to do in my thread :D
---> 20 degrees? (i appreciate your mention of the beloved Celsius scale for us non-USans) ...and you use the air conditioning? (then the world is polluted...) Wow 73% must suck, I have no idea about how much humidity we're having now, but the 30 degrees would be enough even without it thanks  It's been raining 2 drops every half an hour today, not refreshing at all... I went out and felt quite bad, I think one cause might have been the suffocating heat, joined to an attempt of shopping and the bloody lights of shops that give me headache.
Ok, too much info.
As for the poem, a self-comment: I more or less consciously wanted it to feel precarious...I mean, I guess it's evident that there's the awareness that those moments can't last long, even if just because of everyday duties...
(self-commenting, lol, I've reached the top of pretentiousness!)

What else is a personal poetry thread for? :D
Actually, I just flipped on the AC for 10 minutes or less to clear the air. It is MUCH cooler today than it has been, even though it's been an especially cool summer. I think the sky here looks pretty much the same as in Verona right now -- it dripped only for about 5 minutes but now everything is wet and the mosquitoes are out, and the clouds look like they're just waiting for you to get out of sight of the house and they'll open up again.
It actually rained!!! For 10 minutes I think... summer rain can be pathetic.
I found the pic of the place, well it's actually a pic only of the view from the place...:( I posted it elsewhere before so I might try to attach it...

edit...whatever, you got the URL, do what you want :D

 So...pretty... Why is it so pretty where you live, Koa?
This (http://www.eskimo.com/~nickz/bh97pix/STURBRID.JPG) is where (http://www.photoworkings.com/images/Old_Covered_Bridge_Front.jpg) I (http://www.sturbridgecoach.com/images/building1.jpg) live. (http://www.galenfrysinger.com/americas/mass02.jpg) It is (http://www.photoworkings.com/images/Image87.jpg) very, (http://www.yankeemagazine.com/vacations/images/hotels/MA/osv_lodge.jpg) very (http://www.southbridgecreditunion.com/images/Old_site_images/Buildings/hobbs_375.jpg) boring. (http://www.droycefoto.com/313.JPG)
Look: I don't even know what the heck this (http://www.photoworkings.com/images/Mortar_pestle.jpg) is, but in the context of the town, someone actually found it interesting enough to take a picture of.
And believe it or not, my town looks like Times Square compared to where I'm gonna go to school. Why am I subjecting myself to this? I must be insane.
Anyway, rant over. :p
Looks like an American movie all the way... And wow, lots of green. My city has the smallest percentage of green probably in the whole ...Europe at least. Not that I mind, I'm so used to concrete (?) and pollution that I feel bad in the middle of nature for too long.
Well it's pretty here cos everything is soo ooold... that's just the city centre btw, you should see where I live (near the industrial area), it's so squalid that I love it (I adore decadence)!

LOL. I love old buildings. I was wrong about our cemetery, btw -- I thought I'd remembered seeing a 16-something date somewhere there, but I just found out the town was founded in 1729, so...not likely. :p

England can be really beautiful but at the moment..it's a drag. Tonight it's
11 centigrade and the highest temp forecast for tomorrow (dinnertime) is 14c. It rained today and is raining now and we also had gale force winds. Sure you want to come Koa? But it should really be in the 70f - can't translate that to centigrade I'm afraid or even 80f as this should be the height of our summer.
I think where you live is really beautiful Koa and I would love it's old buildings too. I'll have to find some urls to where I live..but its not pretty like where Em lives..or interesting like where you live.

Waahh...:bawling: It looks fun where you live, Az. Miranda, I wish I had a park. If it's sunny tomorrow I'll take a walk with my camera -- and show you why I never go anywhere. There's no going *anywhere* here without a car.

Awww Englishness... the reason why I'll be ruining my life again by coming there in a few weeks (ruining cos of personal stuff, nothing to do with the country itself).
Ah Em...here too, you're either a crazy driver or a masochist who takes the bus (bus is dirty, full of weirdos cos 'cool' people use the car, and always late)...I belong to the latter cathegory cos crazy drivers irritate me so I try to avoid them and I drive only when it's absolutely necessary.

There is no bus here. No public transport of any kind, and sidewalks only in some main parts of town. But not everywhere; you can walk up and down a quarter-mile strip of sidewalk next to the library or something, but if you want to go anywhere else you either have to risk walking at the side of the road or get picked up by someone in a car. it makes no sense at all. It's like a frickin Escher painting.
wow... so it's true that we're becoming more and more like the usa even in that... it must be really crazy!!! in england i know lots of people who can't drive and survive, while here i was going crazy before i was 18 (we can drive at 18 not 16) cos to see my friends i had to be driven by my parents or, if it was during the day, take 45 minutes with changing buses even if some of my friends live 10 minutes (by car) away...

I'd love to see some photos of where you live Em..it sounds like heaven to me! I would love to live in the countryside. We don't have a car..and none of the five of us that live in this house, drive - and its murder! I agree with you about buses and mostly I ride my bike if I wanna go anywhere - and this week, mostly its been wet and windy and horrid for bike riding. But its still better than standing in the rain not ever knowing when or if it's going to arrive. Dont forget your raincoat when you come Koa!!
It sure looks like a busy place where you live Amuse, with lots of things going on. The Independence Hall looks really grand and in a lovely setting, all green.
But its still better than standing in the rain not ever knowing when or if it's going to arrive.
Try it in the sun at 2pm in late June (= no less than 30 degrees) for 40 minutes. Lovely
I don't have a raincoat, if you mean one of those plastic ones with silly colours...my mum keeps insisting I use one when I go out and it's rainy, but damn... I prefer an umbrella, if I really need something. But I love getting some rain on me... As for England, I'll bring the famous purple jacket (even if the concept of a jacket in summer feel so strange to me...), and clothes for all seasons... Last time I was in England in the summer (London August 1999) I had only very few warm stuff which I was wearing all the time and kept washing... I was so happy, 15 degrees while at home they had at least 35... I couldnt help giggling at the thought!!!
*reminder: every time I mention degrees, they're expressed in centigrades.
