I'm usually not one to post something asking for help, but I've really fallen into a rut. I recently joined Speech Team at my college and will be participating in the Oral Interpretation category next competition. For Oral Interpretation I need to have a section of any piece of literature (novel, play, poetry, essay, etc.) prepared, and I can't seem to pick anything for the life of me. I have soooo many books and plays and anthologies and poetry compilations and and and... My head is exploding... Anyway, I've been through nearly 1/3 of my books, and I can't seem to find anything that's just right. There are too many choices. I'm going nuts.
I could really use some help picking out something, and I was hoping you guys could provide me with some suggestions. As far as my taste goes, I really love early 20th century writers (Hemingway, Fitzgelald, T.S. Eliot, etc...), but it most certainly doesn't have to be from that era. That's just what I like. I'm looking for something witty, dynamic and something that I can really get into.
Thank You so much!
