Sautéed cerebellum Julianne,
served with a small bowl of diced dreams
and a mixed emotions salad
topped with Cream Of Hope dressing.
Off to the left,
a side order of shish-a-bob of chopped remembrances, flambé.
The wine?
Absinthe of Lethe, please.
And hold the slice of cold reality…

Phew! 'and hold the slice of cold reality', now there's a line to go down in history. Top poem Pen :)

I loved the expression "diced dreams" and "chopped remembrances". I don't know what is a "shish-a-bob" but the phrase sounded good:D

A "shish-a-bob", Lote, is a skewer of meat and/or vegtables on a metal shaft like a rapier, they are cooked and served that way. Flambe of course means, still on fire.

Over this side of the 'pond' we'd call that a kebab. It'd be a shish kebab if the meat was minced, mixed with spices, and formed into a sausage shape over the skewer.

I was thinking of a somewhat macabre kebab of 'Bob'!

Very cool Pendragon! My husband's Kentucky squirrel hunting family used to fight over the fried-up heads so they could get at their little brains. Ewwww. Not that this has anything to do with your poem but......you brought it up. ;) :D

Not that this has anything to do with your poem but......you brought it up. ;) :DWell, Amp, I've hunted and eaten many a squirrel. But I draw the line at brains if anything! I used to have pig brains in scrambled eggs with a neigbor as a boy and once I found out what I was eating, I can hardly even stomach scrambled eggs... I know people, (an they are from Kentucky,) who eat squirrel brains-- they are welcome to them! I no longer even hunt.

I liked this, Pen. Very imaginative.

I also like squirrell, but never had the brains. Maybe that's what's wrong with me. LOL!

My Mother's family is from Kentucky, but lots of people ate squirrel when I was a kid. Today I would think twice with all the D-Con about.

My Mother's family is from Kentucky, but lots of people ate squirrel when I was a kid. Today I would think twice with all the D-Con about.Well, when I began to hunt, I went by the adage of the Native American-- don't kill for sport, eat what you kill or don't kill. I ate squirrel, rabbit, groundhog, grouse, wild turkeys, and deer. It was more the closing of people's land to hunters and the fact that I really wasn't wanted out there with a gun in a lot of people's eyes that made me stop. I still practice and am still a great shot, and I've taught my kids gun safety and woodcraft. Jon says he wants to hunt this year. OK, but my code remains. You kill it, you eat it. Animal life isn't to be wasted for sport. Catch fish and release them or bring 'em home and cook 'em. In case people don't know it, carp is good, if you fix it right!
