.

a summer's day

early morning
expectant with meaning
charged with anticipation of the day to come

languid breezes
…uninterested, unconcerned…
light zephyrs of sultry air
drag lazily across my bare arms

a shimmering haze
descends in a heavy humid cloak
drenched with the scent of summer
the heat of the afternoon settles in
snuggling deep into every corner of my being

evening thunderstorms
striking bands of lightning
illuminate the horizon

I thought this was really cool - the zephyrs really worked for me!

Reminds me of so many summer days. I really enjoy this, as I do all of your poetry, cdn. But this recalls my youth so it's special.

Thanks, Inkling, PM, and Granny. This poem will always speak to me of summer days spent in my garden in NW Ontario. :)
