For You
Tonight I took time to smell the stars,
for tomorrow there'll be no roses,
and because no one was watching
I picked one for you, no thorns,
yet prickly, and I did place my lips
upon the tiny burns it left, and placed
it in a vase of indigo, floating, for you.

I love this one, Amp. The "vase of indigo" was a beautiful finish.

Very pretty Amp. I liked the concluding image best: "and placed/it in a vase of indigo, floating, for you."

If I am late arriving, I see I miss the beauty of the morning star. This one is small, but it is bursting at the seams.

I'm afraid I didn't understand the significance of smelling the stars because there would be no roses the next day? Surely in that case one would want a last sniff of them?
But I love the rest of this and especially the delicacy of the last line.

I am wordless. The very idea that to marrows are uncertain or that tomorrows roses fade or something like that absorbs me. And that we must make the best of the moment is something that deepens our understanding of the power of now.
Really it is marvelous.

"and because no one was watching

sometimes a few lines say it better than loads of parchments, and this poem by you, ampoule, proves nothing but that.I think you have presented a new dimension of expressing romance, indeed.the last line is filled with awesome imagery and the lines I quoted above sound really romantic when you voice them.I like it very much.

virgil, pen, fire, blaze, gothic...thank you so very much. The stars were so beautiful that night.
And what's that I hear? A siren? Let's see who they have stopped. Oh my gosh, it's Prince!! Shhh, listen.

There's a small but significant difference between "licence" and "licentious".

Hey...you're the one letting your bananas dance around.
And the Lord God commanded the man, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the sacred banana you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall become very, very wise!
