HI everyone these are some questions i have to answer for school. If someone could help out I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

1. Do you agree with the grandfather on the video? Why or Why not?

2. Look carefully at the language (word choice) in the poem. Which words support the view that this is a happy poem? Which words support the view that this is a poem about alcoholism/family abuse?

3. Compare the way the grandfather on the video reads the poem with the recording of Roethke reading his poem. Comment on this comparison.

4. Look carefully at the physical descriptions of the father. What does the tone of the physical descriptions of the father contribute to your understanding of the speaker's attitude toward his childhood experiences as his father's dancing partner?

Thanks again.

We're not about to do your homework, Brown Sugar. Great name by the way. Great song by the Stones by that name. "My Pap's Waltz" is an excellent poem by Theodore Roetheke (sp?). It may have been discussed somewhere on lit net at some time. You might want to do a search for the poem and see what we might have said about it.
