for joy?
Would it fill
a thimble?
a bucket?
a cathedral? Or
your lover's heart?

joy
Shaken, pressed down, brimming over
escapes my heart and rings through the trees
creating a symphony louder and more delightful
than the song of toads, and crickets, and cicadas.
Mine is a deafening joy, a blinding joy
juicy, sweet smelling, cool and soft.
And I will share with you-

Beautiful Kiddo! You made your Momma proud, again.

I hope this isn't offensive for anyone, you'd have to really know me to understand how this makes me feel!
Uncontainable
I remember at the old camp meetings how we’d sing:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
Just a boy with a gift for music, I be right up there leading that song:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
I learned to play the bass and my friend played ragtime piano:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
And I’ve traveled the county anywhere they would open up the door:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
Now sometimes my road is rough and my burden so hard I think I cannot make it:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
And all those who used to want to hear me sing have vanished like the mist.
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
I could sit around and just complain and feel sorry for myself all of the time, yeah:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”
But hand me that guitar there and turn me loose and let me go:
“Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!
Joy unspeakable and full of glory—
Oh, the half has never yet been told!”

I hate to be the one to tell you this, old stager, but this probably is offensive - to any gloomballs on the site, to anyone who's a card-carrying member of The Anti-Joy League but
to me it's real caboose music - warm and daffy!
May you sing when you are happy
and twice as loud when you are down!
Sing as a tragedian
and even more so as a clown!

Damn, Pen, if you ain't next of kin to that bull frog Jeremiah and bet you have some mighty fine wine too!
The onliest difference I can see is I understand every word you say! Play on!
And I guess the Lit-Net gods felt it was worth repeating.

Beautiful Kiddo! You made your Momma proud, again.
AND her grand-uncle Jer as well.

What is your capacity
for joy?
Would it fill
a thimble?
a bucket?
a cathedral? Or
your lover's heart?
It would be
a decent resource for
a dead body or soul
if it can ever
escape
the sovereignty
of my poisonous
superstition.

I'm mesmerized by the unsparing economy of this and the devastating image of the final lines!
(And much intrigued by your signature! Is it a quotation or of your own composition?)

They were inspired by your lines, your philosophical questions, Prince.
(And much intrigued by your signature! Is it a quotation or of your own composition?)
I wish I'd written it.
