Hi,

I'm a new user to this forum. But, literature is one of my worst subjects. This might make you think why did I joined the forum..? Well, the reason that I've joined is to get help, so I can complete my school English homeworks. Although I'm not into literature, I have my own favorite subjects, for example mathematics. So, I would appreciate any literature help from you talented peoples.

Thanks,

J.

well JW, glad to have you. I hope we can all be a big help.

Some church doctrines differ on this, but Original sin is the first disobedience to god in the Garden of Eden when Eve ate fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This transgression brought suffering into the world. Before this time, Adam and Eve were innocent (like children) in the garden and Everything was taken care of for them. After this time, Adam was condemned to labor at the land and Eve was to experience pain in childbirth, and this was to be true for all that followed. Also, because of this they were thrown out of the garden. There was no sin before this. Generally, Christians believe that sin separates people from God and that all people sin. So to be reconciled with God one must be born again- “of the water and of the spirit.”

Does that answer your question?

If possible, can you make the answer a little bit shorter, please?

I don't intend to answer your homework question, if that's what you are asking. I am willing to help or discuss the question with you.

I'm guessing that he means people who were not converted to whatever religion the book is talking about... Normally in a generic sense, converted is talking about people who have been brought over to believing in God. I imagine he is speaking of those who were not when he uses the term unconverted. Hope this helps.

We're not in the habit of giving out answers for homework here. If that is what you are seeking, then I'm sorry I answered your previous post. MotherHubbard gave a very good explanation of what orginal sin is. It is the first sin, the first wrong, committed(sp) by Eve when she ate the forbidden apple and shared it with Adam. It is this sin that taints us all as children of Adam and Eve. It can't really be simplified more than that.

This isn't looking for help. This is looking for answers. You could have completed an internet search on the Puritans and Pilgrims to determine which century they arrived in their wanted land in the time it took you to post this.

Farewell dear babe, my heart's too much content,
Farewell sweet babe, the pleasure of mine eye,
Farewell fair flower that for a space was lent,
Then ta'en away unto eternity.
Blest babe, why should I once bewail thy fate,
Or sigh thy days so soon were terminate,
Sith thou art settled in an everlasting state.

By nature trees do rot when they are grown,
And plums and apples thoroughly ripe do fall,
And corn and grass are in their season mown,
And time brings down what is both strong and tall.
But plants new set to be eradicate,
And buds new blown to have so short a date,
Is by His hand alone that guides nature and fate.

This is from http://titan.iwu.edu/~wchapman/americanpoetryweb/bradeaan.html, there is also probably answer for you other question in another thread. Welcome, math lover!
