Has anyone written a song?
Would you like to post it here?
Even if you think it sucks,
Someone would like to hear.

On your travels down lit-net
Feeling harried and alone
Or with happiness full bursting
Have you ever written a song?

Post it here!

Here are the lyrics to the song I'm listening now:

Sundance (Song lyrics)

A storm turns at the heart of the sun
A storm that goes on forever
Eternal night in melting lithium
Tossing, twirling, clouds of flame
Fearfully beautiful

The clouds that rage
Argent orange skies
A storm that goes on forever

There's a storm at the heart of the sun
Made of thin filigrees and icy clouds
Clashing together in a dance of time
Turning time in dials of gold

There's a storm at the heart of the sun
A storm that goes on forever
of clashing things
And burning arms

There's a storm at the heart of the sun
A storm that goes on
Forever......

There's a song I've been listening to by Tull that I love so much, but it turns out I love it for the instruments in it instead of the lyrics. It has an upbeat flute part it starts out with and builds the melody from. I don't know quite how to describe it, it is sort of a trilling. I don't know if you like Tull but some of their songs are delightful. I've got the CD "Living with the Past," now. Anyway that one song is called "the habanero reel," lyrics:

Cool in the corner, tom cat sitting
On the edge of the yard; sand-flies flitting.
Orange order on a field of green.
Smothers me to smithereens.
Rum and cola, ice cubes crashing.
Jumping beans and brown eyes flashing.
Long hair swinging, tell me how d'you feel?
Well, hot and fancy, it's the habanero reel.

Troubled skin? pour oil upon it.
She's fit to burn in her new scotch bonnet.
Spice up anybody's stew.
Frogs and goats and chickens too.

Barefoot in the sunshine.
Kicking empty beer cans down on the high tide line.
Big wave nearly float your dress away.
And I'm thinking that it's just another day:
Just another day.

Feel that hot rush start it's tickle.
Sweat is rising, taste buds prickle
With ears of bat and eye of eagle.
It's just as well it's strictly legal.

I wrote a couple of songs for guitar, but they never evolved further than guitar-songs. I haven't ever written any songs. :(

Your poems are pretty good thought, they more than make up for it.

The only thing i can play on MY guitar are We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Malageņa and Deck the Halls!

Thanks; I wrote a ton on deviantart, something like 350 total, but I never became the poet I wanted to be. A lot of those are not very good, but I feel writing so many was really good for my comprehension. Writing poetry or philosophy does wonders for one's understanding of it. Like I never understood what metaphysical meant, but when I started writing, it was very clear to me and I got a great deal more benefit from Whitman's poems.

lol! Well I learned more than that, but right now I can only play a few different licks and chords. I can play..."Uncle John's Band"..."Me and My Uncle"...actually, with a little practice I could.

My buddy he stole my woman
left me back in this shack to rust;
My life is a medely, it is a rickshaw
riding all the way to Arkansas or bust.
(Chorus)
Cause I got country dreams bustin' outta my seams
just like ole' Boss Hog at a country fair clog;
When you're two steps back
from too far gone
and you're only friend is singin' you
a lonesome frog's song.

Been hooked on pork rinds, cheetos and beer-
Ain't got no pizza delivery here.
Just a forlorn horn on a rusty Cadillac
sighing ,"You ain't gonna get that woman back."

(Chorus)

So I'm packin' up and heading to L.A.
This country boy has had enough country anyway.
And his mullet's gone batty; his heart's gone a reeling
For that good ole' opry heartachin' unfamiliar feeling:

(Chorus)
