The Search

So long have you travelled
urging your steed to faster speed
driving yourself to further, stronger, more...

So far have you searched
carrying such burdens in your soul
stretching always higher, deeper, beyond...

For what do you strive?
Why are you driven to continue
such fruitless exercise?

I pray thee.... stop and breathe.
Close thine eyes. The truth is here.

Find yourself strolling in deep green forest....
feel the cool autumn shadows caress your arms.
Come with me to the sea, and look to the horizon...
let the splash of the waves revive your senses.
Lie with me in golden meadows
with the scent of wildflowers in your hair
and let the breeze of springtime kiss your cheeks....

....quietly....
........gently....
............softly....

Wherein lies the knowledge
that you seek so fervently?

Thou shalt find it only
within.

Oooo, I like your commandment...thou shalt....such a gentle 'sermon' and then you pound your fist, sweetly of course, and let us have it. ;)

I would love this so much more if it ended here! Save the "within," I beg you, for poems about the much neglected pancreas, so seldom celebrated in poetry!

And if you're persuaded to remove the present last two lines, don't stop at deleting them but take them to some cross-road and drive a stake through their heart!

OK.... pancreas, pancreas..... what rhymes with pancreas? ;)

(Thanks for your comment, Jer. Much appreciated.)

I have a good friend named Hank, he has
problems with his pancreas.
"Hank," I said, "I know where you are coming from!
Why, I once suffered from Meckles Diverticulum!"

This rhyming, my friend, is spectacular
I admire your talent with the vernacular...
but Hank's panks aside, what a fool I'd be
if I didn't mention my distress at your malady.
