In Memoriam
Somehow I dream today of a double house of cards,
Towering high into an autumn sky.
Wonderful the architect, who could build them there,
Over one-hundred stories high.
Yet someone was playing another game, and let their dice fling far,
Two went on a dreadful circuit—
And they struck those shining silver towers near the top.
The towers collapsed into many shards…
Two more of the dice were rolled, one struck, one was caught by brave souls,
Who willing give their lives to see
That no destruction came with this die that was misrolled.
I cannot bear to turn my TV on, but I give to each their praise:
The whole world stopped for that morning—
