thank you for your support in my (current) time of chaos
of course, nothing went according to plan, but in the end everything went, and that was, after all, the goal.
the last i saw the uhaul truck (from another city, far far away) was driving away from the bar where i work. i saw my boyfriend for a timed total of eight minutes, and i was six minutes late for work ;)
its wierd.
i sit here currently on the floor, hunched over a cardboard box with my keyboard perched at shoulder level (no other strongish boxes left) and my monitor balanced on a igloo cooler. there is nothing else in this room but a large blanket on the floor and many feathers that have drifted out of it somehow. my fingers on the keys cause echoes. im tired. night night.

Aw well, time to make it `home' now huh? ;) Glad it all turned out ok and the truck didn't break down on you or something. Have fun unpacking!

I've also heard horror stories about UHaul. A friend of mine was also moving in BC and what with all the mountainous driving the truck they rented had terrible brakes and they almost crashed. They ended up successfully suing them and had found out about their systemic lack of proper maintenance on the trucks, it was routine for them to `miss' brake checks. yikes. You can ask them to see the maintenance reports on the specific truck you will rent to see that it is up to date.

well, dear. i hope your love and your belongings get to your (plural) new place soon, all snug and cozy.
and that it's just wonderful when you arrive, as well.
hm. you and i both fell asleep 6-ish. hope you rested well.

6 minutes? pshaw, that's nothing; they were lucky you showed up! ;) :)

Good luck/congrats on the move, VB! :D Whichever stage you happen to be at.

That reminds me of that movie with Whatshisname...and that lady...and his wife dies but he can't bring himself to open her suicide note...and he builds a model plane so he can huff the gasoline he buys for it...and all his stuff gets stolen, and all he buys is a new computer so he can continue working, and he sets it up in the bare living room with vertical blinds... anyway, that scene just came to mind.

here's the deal: i could only get the truck for the 19th of the month, but my son doesnt finish school till the 25th. so all of our belongings moved on the 19th (last sat) and we are staying in our empty apartment. i have the computer on the floor in the living room, next to a foamy for sleeping on. my son is sleeping in the yard (his choice) on an air mattress.
of course, i tore my achilles tendon (sp?) on saturday sometime (moving maybe?) and have been off work the last couple of days. so im good and ready to get out of this place. when it first happened i was really angry "as if im stuck here, off work for a week" but then i realized that i am being forced to rest and relax, i may as well make the best of it. so every morning, i crutch up the stairs to my backyard, and lounge around my sister's pool in the sun, reading p&p and various other fascinating things like Cosmo mag. hmmmm.....tough life.
anyhow, as of today, my computer will be dissasembled and boxed up, as we are going to stay in a hotel tonight and tomorrow (carpet cleaners and such coming to do their thing) and then we are leaving for the big city on saturday morning!!! only two more sleeps!
that means that i wont be able to post for a couple of days, and of course, the first few days in the city with my boyfriend will be um....busy.

i'll be thinking of you all. try not to miss me too much! hehe ;)

EDIT: i have no idea what you might be talking about Em. more details are required i think.
and did i mention that UHAUL BLOWS???? :rage:

Oh! I remembered: It's called "Love, Liza" with Kathy Bates and Philip Seymour Hoffman. He's always very good. She...isn't.

Ahh...we're gonna miss you, VB! :( Have a fantabulous time getting well, and enjoy those unique services of UHaul. ;) :brow: Don't drop heavy things on your tootsies! See you soon,
Em*~
