to that which is
elemental
I give up my pain
understanding that the only way
to transcend this earthly existence
is by forging through the pain
that ties me to my past

to that which is
elemental
I give up my joy
that it can be shared
with all who choose to
confront the horrors of the world
and bring peace to those who have none

to that which is
elemental
I give up my being
knowing that whatever goes outwards
will be returned a thousandfold

Pronounce this a jolly right poem! Elemental, my dear! http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/figuren/e010.gif

What a lovely prayer! I'm sometimes uneasy with the repetition of lines but when they are used well - as they are here - how powerful they can be!

Hmmm....I was expecting a fourth verse because of the four elementals, earth, water, air, and fire, but giving into all, like a sacrifice...interesting. Yes, you would warrant a great return! I like it.

Lovely poem and how true this last part.

This is so true and part of me believes this on faith, even though I think I see it sometime pass by and then it's not visible again and I return to faith.

Thanks, Fire. I think in this world it becomes all too easy to gather within and anxiously protect what we have. Perhaps we could all use a reminder of this "truth" from time to time. :)
