Hey everybody, Not sure if this is the right place to post, I didn't see an introduction thread...
I registered here a few days ago and have been lurking to get the hang of things around here. I figured I'd introduce myself before I start posting a whole heck of a lot.
Some bits about me: I'm a high school English teacher (yeah summer!), happily married, pregnant with #1 due in early September, spoiler of four cats, and other than lots of reading I also like working on my dollhouse, scrapbooking, geocaching, penpalling, and watching movies.
I look forward to talking lots about books here. Last summer I read 15 books while I was on break. This summer my goal is 20. I've already finished my first three: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Ben In The World, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now I'm reading She's Come Undone.
Can't wait to get to know you all more!

Hello shadowraven, there was a cuckoo's nest thread a while back that might be of interest to you. What is geocaching though, all I can picture in my head is the car the metro geo being chased by a pregnate woman with a butterfly net.

Huge Salams from Ravana to Sh/raven! Welcome!
I used to have four cats years ago, too.

Thanks everybody for the welcomes!
- geocaching: using a GPS device you "hunt" for hidden containers. www.geocaching.com can tell you more detail. There's not much of value to find, the joy for hubby and I is all in the hunt.
- out of our four cats I think only one will not enjoy sharing me with baby. She's already started licking all her fur off! It's actually quite pathetic ;)
- I read Glass Elevator as a kid (not sure why I didn't read the first one instead) and actually hated it... I just happened to have a copy of Chocolate Factory onhand (thanks to bookcrossing) plus I'm preparing to teach a Novels & Their Movies class next year.
- Most days I like my job... it's like any other job, except that you're stuck in high school. All the gossip and problems you remember from HS, they're STILL there! You will have quite a few "colleagues" who still think they're in high school.
- Oh yah, and I'm in Palmdale, California. It's approximately an hour's drive northeast of Los Angeles.

mentioned it months ago, but the most recent adaptation i saw was masterpiece theatre's moll flanders. liked it a bunch; it's a 2-box set.
do you get to choose the curriculum (with approval of course); if not, how does that work?

Yup, I get to choose the curriculum *with approval*. I'm working hard on it this summer. It's taken me two years to get the course finally approved so I'm really looking forward to it. You can see some of what I have (nothing is in stone yet) here: www.crystalstair.com/film.htm
Hi Raven, welcome and enjoy :)
