What will you leave behind
when you are gone from this life?
Will you be mourned and missed
because of the love you shared or
just because you were what you were.
Will everyone’s life be less without you or
will they feel relief from the burden
of you being in their life?
Will they remember the one who
loved them unconditionally or
will they remember the hate you
spewed forth every time something
didn’t go your way?
Will they recall the happy times
spent together as a family or
will they remember your jealous fits
when you weren’t the center of attention?
Now is the time to live forever
in the hearts of those who would love you
and pass your sweet memories on
to generations to come
if you would only let them.

Perhaps this poem is talking about our dual personalities or perhaps you are really trying to speak to someone hateful and jealous, but no matter what, it can speak to anyone and teach us all lessons. If this person is real in your life, I'm wondering if reading this might help them. And don't you wonder what makes people that way? I really think it stems from their childhoods.
Nice Granny.

well, I'm sitting here trying to respond to this and all I can think to say is that I'm sorry. I know how you will be remembered-

It is just about something I was thinking about in the early morning hours.

(mh, I'll be remembered as that woman who lived with Poppy...It's all about Poppy you know!)

Legacy. I recall the speech when I returned to school after my disabity, mainly because people said I couldn't make it (graduated Summa Cum Laude, AAS in Iformation Systems Technology). The President of the Comunity College spoke of a tombstone: two dates and a dash between them. He said we control neither date, but we can make the most of the dash. I want my own legacy to read: "He never gave up, Death had to take him, because he wouldn't go willingly." That should silence some people for a while.

Great poem, Granny Sandy. Wonderful viewpoint!

LOL! I know you will be remembered for that and a lot more. This was a beautiful morning thought.

I think some of the best ones come in the morning when we are still a little sleepy.
