Hyde
The first feeling that I can remember is that of a sublime, almost poetic pain!
Then my eyes opened and I knew the wonderful sensation of true freedom—
And when one has been forced to undergo the long imprisonment
I have, you learn to treasure every waking moment of it! Still, he will provide refuge.
I must allow the old man a tiny connection to me, but keep it a dark secret.
The good Dr. Jekyll will serve as my own place in which I shall hide…
Hee-hee. The old fool thinks he was the one who chose my name, Edward Hyde!
Nor can he realize that the reason he is growing addicted to transformations is I love the pain!
And yet, have I not left him clues enough that I am well aware of his secret?
Day by day, I grow stronger until I shall reach the very pentacle of my freedom!
For that day, I shall need a different sort of refuge—
The Doctor will be gone and I shall need a house of my own—no more imprisonment!
Ha! The Doctor has made a mistake! He has kept me for two weeks in imprisonment!
Now, the Doctor will learn the nature of “his other.” Tonight belongs to Hyde!
Tonight rage burns within me and no one may hope to find solace or refuge.
Bah, you little street tart, scream all you want! Feel and know the pain!
What do you gents want? Money? Accidents happen. Now—my, my freedom?
100 pounds, you think, eh? Come with me. I’ll get it. Through here, a secret
door into the grounds of a friend of mine. Yes, Dr. Jekyll has many secrets.
You fear the check is a forgery and won’t pass inspection? Imprisonment?
I’ll hand the bloody bank note in myself, I am that certain of my freedom!
Fools! What was the matter with you poufs? Think I had something to hide?
Um, sorry, I have suddenly taken ill, must go. Feeling sharp, wrenching pains.
That isn’t supposed to happen! Glad I was close to Jekyll’s and refuge…
Dear God! I may have gone too far now, and there will soon be no refuge!
Curse that bloody fool! He could have had someone double-check. Kept too many secrets!
I endure more and more each day hoping he will succeed, but it’s only more pain.
Hyde, you had to go murder Carew just because, right? It means death or imprisonment!
Your entire existence relies upon the Doctor finding the cure to stop the pain—
Your very existence—not to mention your oh so precious freedom…
The level of the vital salt is running out quickly, as is my hope for freedom.
Lanyon knew, but he is dead, yet Utterson suspects, as does Poole, no refuge
left, after the final transformation and I remain forever Edward Hyde.
No place upon this blessed Isle that I could reach in secret.
I do not think the Crown would settle for my imprisonment.
For the murder of Sir Daniels Carew, execution, preferably with long, drawn-out pain…
I hear them knocking on my final refuge, my final place of imprisonment.
It is very plain that they know my secret, I heard Utterson call out the name “Hyde.”
Well, this venom will grant me my freedom, one last glorious burst of pure pain…
