"If we spoke a different language, we would perceive a somewhat different world."
-- Ludwig Wittgenstein
I am at a lost to its rhythm.
The urbane and the insouciant,
Treading confidently on the concrete expanse,
A precise timbre to every step. Angularly slouched
On the windowsill, the eyes read and articulate
This sonorous procession, tacit side steps
Followed by somnolent gestures exchanged
Between erudite people. It reminds one
Of a prisoner’s cant: implied meanings dwelling
Under habitual motions. For now, this prisoner is out of step,
In his commodious cell, plotting to submerge
Beneath the common signs. But after the descent
There is no surety of freedom. A prisoner who escapes
From one urban cage, only to be caught in another.
