Another one of those....

A June So Cold

A day so full of chill, and yet,
it should be warm with summer on the brink,
and then I think,
Why am I so cold after all these months?
I should be warming by now
but I am frozen.

I grab Green and say, let's go to breakfast!

I peer into the restaurant, a table for me.
Seating myself with my book companion,
I place Green's arms carefully around me,
pretending they are warm.
I sip my coffee and peruse the menu,
thinking of a breakfast not so long ago.

What's this?

TODAY'S SPECIAL: CALIFORNIA OMELETTE!
You will love this cruel and unusual punishment
served with hash browns and wheat toast!

I do not dare for I may choke on tears of memory.
Is that why you gave me Green,
to warm and comfort me on these cold June days?

You have such a distinctive voice, Amp. Reading your poems is like listening to you talk, or at least how I imagine that would be. Love this one, love 'em all.... :)

Amp these lines sound like they were taken from an oriental menu badly translated into English! You gave me the giggles!
