I love nymphs but then I would get chased by a bunch of people: centaurs, gods, fauns, satyrs.

But Roman's were "relatively" more civilised than Vikings? :D

Bakiryu

Civilization isn't really interesting sometimes and besides: ships, and neo-pagans!!! Vikings are misunderstood. (I wikied them)

I love all periods of history. Every era has something in it that interests me. I especially love the 18th century. So beautiful and classic.

So, yes, I do get very "nostalgic". Quite often. Er, everyday since I almost completely ignore 2007. I get overly-nostalgic, actually. Quite painful!

And...I LOVE the '80s. I remember I was talking to my college friend and she was said it was funny that I love the '80s so much and I wasn't even born yet. I've been getting into more 20th century things. Don't know when I'll get to the 21st century if I ever do. Probably when I'm 50 or 80 or somethin'...I'm trying to get more modern, people!

I hope the Bloody half is lost in the history of DNA exchanges or do you still feel an urge to wield a battle axe ?:D

well.... it's more closer to a sword. i love everything about fighting... other then the fact that everyone dies. if everyone could just be gutted and not die that would be the best! (well, maybe not, but you get the point.)

I would have to say the roaring 20's. deco, flappers, the charleston....I am quite confident it would have been the perfect era for me.

I don't know if I would want to live there and then, but I'm a ancient roman history buff. I enjoy the period.

Actually to live at any time period, I would be hard pressed to leave the current time. We have the best standard of living of history and longest life span and modern medicine has made our lives less painful.

Indeed, Virgil...all the technology, too. I learn so much...

This post reminded me of one of my favorite TV shows:

Really makes you appreciate your life a bit more.

Yaaay Tony Robinson! My favorite episode is The Tudors one because he dresses up as a fishwife and it's really funny. Such a short, dear old man...

Says the man from the comfort of his chair, in his centrally heated home with all mod-cons, TV, broadband internet connection, a nice cup of tea or perhaps a chilled bottle of beer, with snacks fresh out supermarket looking forward to the next day of computer programming. ;)

When was the last time you went camping?

And yes I have felt real hunger and enjoyed eating the food I cooked :D

I think I can quite easily live a hunter-gatherer existence and bring down woolly mamoth with my spear :D

She sounds like an amazing woman. My Grandma's taught me that :

1) if you live long enough you go barmy and attack people on the street (especially well meaning neighbours), and
2) how to steal lavendar from parks and sew it into pillows.

When I'm a Grandma I'm going to be like yours (though I've a lot to learn still!).

Besides why would I want to swim when I can just hang around by the pool and check out people?

Also, swimming with glasses is very bothersome.
