I read that Valerian Root helps calm your nerves and promotes restful sleep so I bought some. The problem is that they (the capsules) smell so bad.

They smell like soured wet clothes forgotten in the washing machine for a week, or maybe like someone who hasn't changed his underwear in a week.

And the worst part is that the smell stays on your fingers after you've taken them. Talk about a stink palm!

So what else stinks? Let's talk about very bad smells.

Yesterday I had to change a very smelly diaper at a shop in town. I went to a changing room in the very back as there were no restrooms and the shop owner went through the store spraying air freshner.
and

We used to have a turkey farm. Sometimes I would just take my clothes off on the poarch and go in necked right ot the shower and hold a shower jell under my nose until enough stink washed off that I could wash.

My niece used to have the stinkingest diapers I've ever smelled..and I've smelled a lot of diapers. We she was at our house and had a dirty diaper, the whole house would stink. I don't know what her mother was eating but boy was it bad.

I have never smelt anything so foul as the time I was at the vet and he expressed my dogs anal glands while I was in the room.

oh, #2 on my stink list (haha - and it's not #2!!! hahahah) - I bought sweet potatos and left them in the plastic bag in my cupboard. After some time I smelt something a little off in the kitchen, it turned out to be the semi liquified sweet potatos... i opened the bag and the smell just sort of "grabbed" me...

Boiled cabbage--dont get me wrng love the taste but the smell get everywhere. When we lived in egypt my bedroom was on the ground floor under the kitchen and whenevr we had cabbage my room stank for days. had to change all the bedding but the smell stayed in the carpet and the curtans.

My husband's mom like to cook that stuff and it's horrid. and it doesn't go away.

Also, certain lunch meat stinks. If you go buy some roast beef from the deli and have them slice it for you, the smell of it wafts out of the plastic bag and lingers around you while you're shopping and smells like poo. I asked my husband what stank, and he goes, "It's not me, it's the roast beef" and I didn't believe him until I got it out of the fridge later and it really was the roast beef. Amazing that it smells so bad while managing to taste pretty good.

This is to go with Tal's favorite smells thread. What's your least favorite smell and why (because smells evoke certain memories - good or bad)

I hate the smell of straight Lysol. It reminds me of this crappy day care I had to go to while my parents were at work. It was so horrible - concrete floors, boring games - time stood still there. and i was always starving.

I also hate the smell of Oscar de la Renta - horrible perfume and that woman who wore it was absolutely evil

I used to clean up my father's bar in the mornings, and I hate the smell of stale beer. We used to collect the cans to recycle them, and they would spill all over the place with 3 month old beer...ewww!:(

I hate the smell that fills my nostrils whenever I happen to pass by pungent upperclasswomen...

I just noticed that I started two very similar threads. Perhaps they should be merged.

sorry, didn't mean to be redundant.

The worst smell I've ever come across? Simple, the sump pit of a sewage plant. I was working in one whilst doing confined space classifications & had to make an entry to check access/egress & atmospherics.

The pre-made meatballs you can buy at the store. Before you fry them yourself, they smell like wet farts.

The worse smell for me is a Nursing Home. I think of it as the smell of dying. I hate the smell and no matter how clean a Nursing Home is, the smell is there.
Next would be a dirty adult diaper....make me gag.
