I have come across many people who are megalomaniacs.... Do you think its good to blow your own image to an unimaginable size sometimes? Do you think talking much about yourself attract people and helps you move around with people? Whats your take?:)

I daresay people nowadays think too much about how they or others should act.
People have acted in certain ways for centuries, why do we need to discuss everything now? Can't we just let some things be and accept them?

(And no, that's not a particularly helpful posting, I know, but yes, discussions from 'Should I wash my hair every three days or might people think I'm vain then?' to 'Is it a bad thing to wear trousers when you're a woman and will it ruin society?' are getting on my nerves. )

There's a great speech on this topic given by Satan in The Devil's Advocate that really fits the bill, in my opinion. Although we are not all given over to meglomania, we seem to be tempted to become egomaniacs like never before. Although we can't compare a previous time to ours from first hand experience, it seems undeniable that technology has blunted many of our social graces. We are products of our own enviornment.
