How do you format

Hello again everyone. So I really need some help here. How do you format when you are writing? At the moment I am just typing away in MS Word, but I know that a page in word is much longer than a page in a book. So, do you generally set it up with the book style format, or do you use something else use another program or something. I'm actually starting to consider the idea of publication rather than just writing for personal entertainment. Any advice that you can give on the mechanics of how to put the writing together will be a huge help.

There's no reason to format your writing like a book, unless you are printing a book. Let the publisher worry about that. If you are submitting something for publication, make sure that any special formatting, italics, etc., are done, so that the editor will be able to tell where to do that.
