If not by color then by fate-
I am a black man
And my shadow is also black…
Imagine a man’s life
Who is so akin to his shadow!
How will you differentiate me;
When you meet me in the hot sun
To whom you say Hi! Me or to my shadow
A black man’s life is always like this
He has to fight with his own shadow
And there is only one way to win this war
To live in darkness.

What a powerful poem, beautiful, perceptive but dark. The final line says everything. I loved these lines:

Imagine a man’s life
Who is so akin to his shadow!

From a white man.
I say hi to YOU, because you are my brother. Our shadows may follow, but my shadow is the same color.

Never met a shadow. I have met plenty of fine people. To ask that they change colors or act differently is foolish. Be proud of who and what you are. I like your poem, asking the difficult question:

When you meet me in the hot sun
To whom you say Hi! Me or to my shadow
A black man’s life is always like this
He has to fight with his own shadow

I will hold out my hand, and a shadow cannot shake it. They will take the hand of a man with Native American blood, Celtic blood, German blood, and even Black blood. Shall I cringe and be ashamed? Not I. That blood is red, like theirs, and who knows? Our blood might save the other's life one day.

Dear pen, there is no intention to hurt or blame to any body, any race...sometimes its fate who is your enemy...one has to become white from inside....

Dear pen, there is no intention to hurt or blame to any body, any race...sometimes its fate who is your enemy...one has to become white from inside....One has to become human from the inside, dear Ashy. The color outside doesn't matter. Being white will not make one better, the white race has much to answer for itself. Human we all are, but to be one and to act like one are two opposing things. Your poem expresses that very well. No one should be offended. (((hug))) http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/BlowaKiss.gif
