Not so good but I thought "Why Not?"

Then and Now

I used to be a lovely
With hair and skin so fair
Now with age I’ve come to know
That Pleasant is what I wear
My smile is gentle and glowing
No longer sexy and willing
My legs not longer than long
Now blue lines never ending
My hips are inches below
Their 20 year old spot
And breasts that used to sit
Upon my chest are now
In some other slot
The men no longer look at me
Especially not my fanny
But now that I am older still
The babies all call me Granny

No Title

Wandering through this maze
I lost my way to real life
Headlong I run without thought
Of what is to come or when to stop
Life beckons but I can’t find the way
When did it begin, where does it end
What’s real, what is a dream
What do I do to separate the two
Life full of obligations, life of responsibilities
Fun without concern for tomorrow
Or who will take care of
What must be done

I sure love the no titled one kid. I wonder sometimes how life gets so complicated and all we do is concentrate on big stuff. It takes the little and the big to make life fullfilling. Sometimes we just let things get in the way.

Then and Now: But from what little I can glean from poems and comments made here, you can and do still use those items with love and warmth. Women are lucky that way, wouldn't you say, whether it be a man or a grandchild you hold at your breast....no matter where they are. ;)

No Title: Responsibilities, schmontzibilities! You've done your share. Now write poems. :)

Then and now- It happens to everyone who can’t afford to have those girls picked back up and put where they belong! I know you take more pride in the work your womanhood brought you than in the goggle eyes it brought. But still it would be nice to have your cake and eat it, too!

No Name- Sometimes it seems that going through the process of simplifying you life would be too complicated, or too much work. Funny isn’t it?

It's nice that y'all can talk about your "girls" so freely and proudly but what about us boys' boys? We aren't just pretty minds, you know!

Who said this is not so good, let me at them. This was such an incredible short but powerful poem. The best kind are those personal poems that say something about us all.

Thank you so much firefangled. I can't tell you what your opinion mean to me.
I envy your talent and I so appreciate your kind words.

Granny Sandy, the ability to put humor into a poem about yourself without putting yourself down is an art. You are an artist. I laughed, and anytime I laugh these days, it's good for me. You are a treasure.

Proverbs 15:

[13] A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
[15] All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

You will never grow old, because that merry heart will always keep you young!

OK Granny5, I've been holding back but can hold back no more. Re these lines:

The men no longer look at me
Especially not my fanny

I have to ask, in the beautiful Ozark mountains, what is the literal definition of 'fanny'? I'm thinking it's not the same as in Great Britain...caused a few raised eyebrows in my locale I can tell you...

How funny! I doubt seriously that Granny would be talking about THAT kind of fanny. Not to steal anyone's thunder but fanny here in the USA is the backside, or as Forrest would say, the but-tocks. :D

Thank you ampoule for explaining, and for understanding (so I don't have to explain !). Granny - you're making the Englishmen blush

I have no idea what fanny means in Britan...but Amp is right, it's my bottom I was talking about. Now I'm dying to know what you mean!

 or the Great Wall of China!

Also should have mentioned that it's especially eyebrow-raising given the title of the thread!

This makes me think of Richard Nixon traveling abroad and making the peace sign with his two fingers in cultures where that was like giving someone the finger here. Can you the president of France or someplace stepping off of a plain and waving the finger at all of the people and cameras?!?! I think I’ll just call you Granny Fanny from now on!
