Restless Sleep Revisited
Another sleepless night, you would think
I would get used to it.
But after all these years, it seems to get
worse when you are away.
Maybe I will catch the late late show, or
some other obscure program.
But probably not, you know me, I will
put in reruns with George and Jerry.
I’ll eventually fall asleep, but not until
sometime in early morning.
Then I’ll toss and turn, then wake, finding
you still gone.
I suspect the best part is that I’m confident you
will come back soon.
Just one of life’s little quirks, being apart,
only strengthening what we know.
