Depression
Serendipity!!
I found a sunken treasure and I wasn't even looking!!
I
...dived
......down
..........deep
to take a look and saw that it was full of wonderful things!
Breathless, I surfaced, giddy with excitement, light shining in my eyes.
I held the precious pearl up to him while treading water, laughing
and splashing water at him, and he took it and turned it in his fingers
and held it between his teeth, and then he said no.
And then..................he dropped it.
Slowly I sank and covered myself with silt and sand and salty tears
and barnacles grew as I watched him sail away.
Not a soul could find me until he came back one day.
Giddy with excitement, light shining in my eyes, I packed my bags
and hired a rig that went out to sea to the place I knew so well.
I dived off the side and tied the rope around the treasure.
Together we turned the crankshaft and just as it broke through the water,
that dreaded silence....the chain snapped and
...down
.......down
............down
it sank as I searched his face for something, anything, but got nothing.
I am so exhausted but I know where the treasure lies.
I can bring it to the surface whenever he wants, if only he would want.
I think he wants the treasure without me.
