I am looking for the author of a couple short stories that my sixth grade teacher read to us back in 1981. Hopefully someone knows who it is.
The first story I think is called "The Puzzle" and probably made into a movie by Ian Kessner in 1999 because the plot is so similar. It is about a woman who is putting a puzzle together in her house and realizes that the puzzle is of her house and the last piece of the puzzle has a monster in the window.
The second story (if it is from the same author) is about two girls who are in a basement and one of them runs upstairs because they keep hearing noises and the girl in the basement keeps hearing this "Sh, Sh" sound and her freind doesn't come back. She finally gets the nerve to go upstairs and she meets her friend on the way and feels the coat the friend was wearing and then when she gets to the top of her friend, she can only feel the bone sticking out of her neck where her head was.
Another story and it could be part of the second one I just described has a weird looking bird in it. It is an evil bird that is stalking someone.
Anyway, if someone can help this horror buff figure it out. I would love to read this book again. Thanks
