Does anyone know when this book was published and if it is classified as a classic British book?

H.G. Wells was born in England (http://www.online-literature.com/wellshg/), so, yes, his works could be classified as 'British' :) I don't know if The Invisible Man: A Grotesque Romance, first published in 1897, probably by MacMillan: http://www.macmillan.com/13122005ExternalPressreleaseEdbk.asp is considered a 'classic', his War of the Worlds seems to eclipse all his other works even today.
