The boy next door
Corinne sat in her chair and pondered the events of the night before as she always did. She sat on her chair on the back porch and swung her long legs over the sides of it. Coffee in hand and eyes closed she looked like she was posing for a picture. The sun was bright. The sky clear and all she wanted to do was zone out to the past events and soak up the beautiful day. She liked the wind sweeping behind her neck. Her short brunette head of hair was new to her. But she had needed a change. Actually, she always needed a change. She constantly loved making new friends, meeting new guys, and finding different ways to get herself in trouble. She never understood how people could do the same mundane thing after another. She was always looking for change and variety. It would explain why she’d never had a steady boyfriend. Sure she’d had guys who she’d hung out with. But after two weeks something (or someone) else would catch her attention and away she would go. Flitting out of people’s lives. It’s not that she didn’t care, she just hadn’t found someone really worthy of her time.
Sitting here on the porch, her mind in last night’s festivities, Corinne suddenly heard a loud slam. Hoping her mother would assume she had fallen asleep and leave her alone she closed her eyes even tighter preying she wouldn’t be disturbed. Then the banging got closer and she realized it was waiting for her to respond. Reluctantly she opened her eyes and found herself staring in the eager blue eyes of a tall someone she had never met. He was tall, blonde, and tan. Just like she liked them. He was almost too eager though. And he had disturbed her zoning out. Which was something you didn’t do to Corinne. So she overlooked his slightly cute exterior as she spoke.
“What?” She barked out. More annoyed then she had intended. But she didn’t bother caring that much.
“Hi” The new stranger had answered just as eagerly as he looked. His voice was sexier then she had expected though. Deep. But not in a creepy way. In a very, very hot way. And he had made the effort to come over and talk to her after all.
“I just moved across the street and I just wanted to be polite and introduce myself. I’m London”. He stuck out his large hand, Large Corinne noticed.
“Like the city?” She replied. Attracting boys had never been an issue for Corinne. What with her long legs and cat like green eyes. She knew how to tell them what they wanted to hear.
“I guess” He shrugged. Shoving his hands in his pockets. He seemed suddenly shy. She though she had power over this one already. Nice.
“Corinne” She said. Just then she realized she never shook his hand and felt a pang of guilt.
“Cool. Well see you around I guess,” He replied and sauntered off. He really was good looking. Corinne went back to her daydreams. This time though, they were focused on the nice week she would spend with this boy before moving on to someone more confident. She would give him a nice “welcome to the town”.
