My name is Brandi and I'm 29 years old. I have an Master's degree in English and I'm thinking about entering a PhD program soon. My area of interest is 18th-century British literature (Swift, Pope, Johnson, Defoe, the early Romantics, etc.) but I have also studied a fair amount of Renaissance and Restoration English drama. Things have been kind of slow for me lately due to a back injury, so I thought that I should do something more interesting than watch summer reruns on television. I have been reading quite a few books lately and this forum looks like a good place to discuss them.
I also enjoy writing short stories and poems, though I haven't written anything lately. It's nice to engage in creative discussions with other writers, so that is another reason why I joined this forum.
Other interests: philosophy (I took a minor in it just for fun), drawing, comics, movies (especially horror and dark comedy), games (video, card, board), singing.
