In contrast to Scheherazade's thread,

I'd like to know what your Worst Movie of all Time is....

I hate so many movies, I can't find my favourite worst movie. Oh, the irony..

Mischka comes pretty close. Runners up, Saw 1 and 2, X men 3, Spiderman 2...there are so many I shouldn't even start.

You mean Phenomena, the Argento film with Jen Connelly and Donald Pleasance? But that has a crazy, vengeful, scalpel wielding, monkey! Ok, it's a guilty pleasure.

The number of bad movies is sort-of limitless. I mean, it's got to be pretty easy to make a bad movie.

But one movie that I just detest - not that it's necessarily bad in some kind of official, cinematographic way, but a movie that I HATE is Groundhog Day. I guess people could think it's funny, but I find it incredibly disturbing, not to mention incredibly tedious.

Mark F.

Weird, I love that film. I agree it's disturbing, but why do you consider that as something bad?

Video Drone
08-10-2007, 04:10 PM
I have trouble with that... all films you have named are rather good (on the negative scale). All I can think of is The Lawmower Man 2, but Remember the Titans is worse. I usually don't remember bad movies. I mean, why would you?

The all time worse movie is the propaganda movie from the 30's or 40's made by the US goverment.....Reefer Madness. It was supposed to scare everyone away from pot, but the pot heads would get stoned and watch it cause it was so darn funny. (or so I read....)

The Dukes of Hazard with Jessica Simpson and her BS southern accent

The Ringer (it is not cool to make fun of retarded people. and then they tried to turn it around and act like the character gained some sort of appreciation for the people he was trying to beat in the special olympics)

I think i just hate Johnny Knoxville. or maybe he stars in crappy movies, which reflects his overall inner crappiness.

Well, most old movies I have seen are indeed boring and difficult to see because of the shades of black and white (so I have to watch them with my glasses on).

I HATE RAMBO. My mom watches it in SPANISH and it's repeated over and over on Telefutura (1 Spanish tv station).

Napoleon Dynamite is annoying but the worst movie of all time prize is awarded to: BORAT

Ahhhh... I can't pick just one. I go out looking for bad movies because I think they're funny to watch. One that comes to mind is called Hammerhead, I think. It was about a guy turned into a shark who then goes on a killing rampage. It was very mad scientistish:) The next one I have lined up to watch is Kracken, Tentacles of the Deep:lol: I'll think harder to come up with a real list. My definition of bad and other people's don't really amount to the same thing.

Shalot
08-11-2007, 01:38 AM
I thought Borat was terrible also. I mean, it's kind of funny to think about someone doing a fake documentary and getting these stupid people to go along with it while thinking that they're participating in something that is genuine but it was so gross. That scene where he is fighting naked with his producer is sick. I think it's the gross-out factor that turned me off. At the same time, I think the gross out factor allowed the communication of a lot of ideas that couldn't have been presented outright otherwise.

So is Borat really one of the worst movies? It certainly is gross but maybe that's what it takes sometimes. Sometimes, you just gotta get mean.

Shark Attack 3 is probably a very strong contender, check out these two links. The first one is the most irrelevent line of dialogue ever filmed, the second are the marvellous special effects. Enjoy.

I thought troy was alright. But Alexander was just rediculously bad. Because there was a good lot of Irish actors in it, they made all the other actors put on Irish accents to blend in. Dire. Johnathan Rys Myers was good though.

Haven't seen Borat, so I second the Napoleon Dynamite nomination. My god, it was absolutely dreadful. Saw Night of the Living Dead right after it and it seemed like a masterpiece compared.

The Road Killers also gets an (un)honorary mention.

And I still can't believe someone said Groundhog Day.

Dirty Dancing is on cable right now and I think I would like to add it to the list. It was very popular when it came out, maybe because Patrick Swayze is in it. I am not sure.

The movie was is supposed to be set in the fifties but it came out in the eighties and the characters in the movies look like they come from the eighties - the costumes are not authentic at all.

The story is stupid. There isn't much in the plot that is believable at all. The fact that Baby's dad gave her a wad of cash without asking what it was for didn't ring true at all. And why was Baby the only person who could fill in for Penny while she was having her "procedure?"

And what kind of family spends the whole summer at a boring resort like that? Where is the beach?

And what kind of name is Baby?

Then to finish up, they do a little dance and every is right with the world again.

This movie is full of cringe moments...

Arguably:

"Manos": The Hands of Fate
Lazerblast
Uhhhhh...Red Zone Cuba...

OOH. Plan 9 From Outer Space. :D :D :D I like all those old "classic" monster-type b-movies, though. <3 Like The Creeping Terror and The Atomic Brain.

As for more modern ones...I hated Ghost Rider. *shudders* I don't really like any of the superhero movies. I can't sit through horrible modern movies. Probably because they aren't MSTed. (I need to look up RiffTrax, huh?) Hollywood sucks nowadays. All the plots are already made up, they just add in the character names to fill in the blanks.

HEY LILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's Red Zone Cuba about?

Like most terrible movies, it has no plot whatsoever. Or a very "thrown together" one, at least. It makes sense you would ask this. :D

It's about a group of criminals who go and fight Castro in Cuba. It goes in circles, I tell ya. What's worse, is that most of the time you don't know where they are-Cuba, or the U.S.-because the whole thing was probably shot in the Mojave Desert or something.

"Niiiiight train to mundo fineeeeeee!"
"I'm Cherokee Jack!"

If you do actually go on to watch that Coleman Francis trashterpiece, for love of humanity, please watch the Mystery Science Theater 3000. Even after I watched the episode I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out. Seriously, it physically HURTS after you watch a really, really, REALLY bad movie. Poor MST3K guys. :( Had to watch that stuff over and over and over again. Still one of my favorite episodes, though. :D I was laughing so hard when they were feeding the dog and everything. Saying that made me look like a total idiot, ha ha.

MST3K is pretty obscure, so here's a site if you're interested: http://www.castleforrester.com/ Basically the best 10 year long mock-fest ever invented.

I'm glad someone mentioned Plan 9 From Outer Space. It's my favorite worst-movie-ever-made!

HOW COULD I NOT?! It's a CLASSIC!

"You humans are all stupid, stupid, STUPID!"
"That's enough out of you!" *slaps*

Yeah, I have no life. B-movie queen...I've seen so many of them. @_@ The list for terrible movies could go on and on.

I just thought it was a ridiculous movie. The acting was wooden, the dialogue was repetitive, how many times do we need to be reminded of why they are fighting? Was it for immortality? I'm not sure because I don't think they made that clear enough.  Eric Bana was good, he was the bright spot of that movie but for the most part, I just thought it was silly. Brad Pitt was in Troy and that pretty much sums it up - it's no good.

I think the public is tired of Brad Pitt. He doesn't draw crowds at the box office and has to ride the coattails of whomever he is dating at the time. I would love to see him have Britney-esque meltdown.

I just thought it was a ridiculous movie.Action movies are all pretty ridiculous. And Troy was actually pretty good not being ridiculous. It was historical, anyway.

The acting was wooden, the dialogue was repetitive, how many times do we need to be reminded of why they are fighting?Bad acting? Do you have a grudge against Pitt or something? The acting was fine. I didn't find it repetitive. There are movies with a lot more repetitive dialogue out there.

but for the most part, I just thought it was silly. But that's just my opinion, not a statement of fact. ;)Well, it was silly, but that's not the movie's fault. I think it's pretty silly to fight for a woman, but that is just what happened.
Brad Pitt was in Troy and that pretty much sums it up - it's no good.Again, you have a grudge against Pitt? You should watch some of his earlier movies, he was better in there.

I think the public is tired of Brad Pitt. He doesn't draw crowds at the box office and has to ride the coattails of whomever he is dating at the time. I would love to see him have Britney-esque meltdown.Brad Pitt was probably the best match for Achilles possible. And judging a movie by an actor... Why do you have to bother with someone else's life? I don't even care what he does out there, I don't care how popular or unpopular he is, and attacking a movie because of the private life of an actor in it is just silly.

Shalot
08-12-2007, 05:03 PM
No, Brad Pitt is just a bad actor. Period. I won't be convinced or persuaded otherwise and I don't want to see anymore movies he is in. I have seen his earlier movies when he wasn't such a prat and it's silly of you to assume that I haven't ;).

I am not judging the movie by the actor - I am saying that his presence detracts from my overall enjoyment of a film . Silly or not, that's how it is. I myself don't see what is silly about that. Either you like someone or you don't. An actor is supposed to entertain and Brad Pitt fails to entertain me.

 Let's get into a heated debate about Brad Pitt!

Idril
08-12-2007, 05:29 PM
Bad acting? Do you have a grudge against Pitt or something? The acting was fine. I didn't find it repetitive. There are movies with a lot more repetitive dialogue out there.

I don't recall having said anything specific about Brad Pitt, he wasn't the only actor in the movie so saying the acting was wooden isn't necessarily a jab at him...although, he was really bad in this movie. :p He was just way over the top and I realize he's portraying a powerful, mythical person but still, there's nothing wrong with a little subtlety. Orlando Bloom also, did not help this movie. He's a pretty man, I'll give him that but he's not a great actor and even Sean Bean, whom I normally really like was not at his best.

And you know, it's just a movie, Video Drone. My opinion of the movie, or anyone else's for that matter, shouldn't affect your enjoyment of it in any way. I've seen Napoleon Dynamite named as worst movie by a few people but I loved the movie. It was stupid, I agree but I still thought it was a riot and it doesn't bother me that not everyone loves it, that's just how it goes.

I will have stick with mainstream cinema, because there are a lot of underground films that are truly bad- Clint Howard in Ice Cream Man.

Batman and Robin was horrible. Schumacher is the Once-ler of cinema.

I enjoyed Troy. Bana and Pitt create complex and strong performances. Bloom weakens the film for me. I can't believe Cox; he's always great. I think the removal of the Gods was a good choice. I would have enjoyed a more Ironic script and director; Kubrick could have made this a classic, but he would have promoted more Bloom type performances.

Tough question..probably one of those cine cita (sp?) italian movies concerning greek mythology..in one, don't remember the movie title, there is Hercules fighting Sampson (the one from the bible  ) and they are throwing huge plastic rocks to each other
Oh, and there is another one where Hercules fights a giant Robot - Centaur

Oh, yeah, there's lots of Hercules ones. Hercules Against the Moon Men, Hercules Unchained, Hercules and the Captive Women...unfortunately I haven't seen those ones. :(

One that always throws people off guard when I even mention the title is Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. :p I remember one time I was at Barnes and Noble, and I wanted to order MST3K: The Essentials and it has that episode on it. I wanted to make sure it was the right DVD and so I mentioned the episodes on it, and the clerk looked at me funny.

When I first heard the title, I thought maybe he goes to Mars and kicks some Martian butt and takes over Mars, but nooooooooooo. (Sorry my Martian friends here on LitNet) I mean, he CONQUERS them, alright, but it's pretty lame...which is expected from a b-movie.

Another one I really didn't like was Ghost Rider. Nicholas Cage is ok, but the movie sucked...and eva mendez was horrible as Cage's girlfriend

I agree with Duece Bigalow and the Animal. And the Hot Chic if no one has said that already.

Rob Schneider is supposed to be funny I guess, right? He was on SNL but he was icky more than anything else in those movies

Some people ill probably disagree but I really didn't care for Pulp Fiction. Now I wouldn't call it worst but it's certainly an honorable mention.

Pulp Fiction is one of those "controversial" movies people never agree upon.

"you just made me remember how much i hated jim careys other movie The Cable Guy!" - it's an anti-television movie... or a pro-television movie, I wasn't exactly sure. I watched it twice and I'm still not sure what to think of it.

I'll be the first of that some to disagree. One of my top five. I won't argue though, I can see why some people might not like it, I really can't but I know everybody has their own taste.;)

Pulp Fiction is okay, definitely overrated. Tarantino has a nasty habit of cribbing other people's material.

Reservoir Dogs - A major rip of City On Fire (or something like that, a Chinese crime drama basically taken nearly scene for scene).

Pulp Fiction - Most of it written by co-writer Robert Rogers Avary the film's true unsung hero.

Kill Bill - A major rip of the chambara masterpiece Lady Snowblood with pieces of chambara and Kung Fu cinema cut and pasted together.

No doubt this will receive vigorous objections--but one movie I just hated was O Brother Where Art Thou. I think I have watched every horrible movie to the credits--except that one. *shudders*

Three worst movies ever created....

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Ice Pirates
The Hunted

Ice pirates was actually intended as a cheesy ripoff comedy of a few sci-fi flicks. It is so bad that it's worth watching.

I was laughing when I first saw Kill Bill. I think I saw the sequel...s (Correct me?) as well. My friend likes them, so I watched them with her. They were so lame I actually enjoyed them because they were funny. Like 50s sci-fi b-movies. :D

Gosh, I love movies. *sigh*

I haven't seen any recent films that I thought were that bad, but the worst film that I saw recently was Jaws 2 and 3.
I had high hopes after seeing the first, and I thought that were just rip-offs and made to quickly without any of the original team.

It has to be "Manos, the Hands Of Fate." This turkey is unwatchable by any normal person. Filmed in El Paso Tx. on a budget of appx $19,000.00. It was released in 1966. The film would most likely be forgotten, but the crazys at MST3K made it into one of thier best programs.

I'd have to say Dark Crystal. I could barely sit through ten minutes of it. It gets compared to Labyrinth a lot, another Jim Henson movie, but I actually liked Labyrinth.

Worst movie of all time? I reckon are those hollywood low-budget action films with no storyline whatsoever.

I have to say Napoleon Dynamite is probably the worst movie I have seen in a while.Sadly, I had no choice I was watching that with a group of people.

Based in what I've seen before... I think I'm going to choose "The Legend" starring Tom Cruise. It was dark I could hardly see the people on the screen and the costumes were really scary.

I TOTALLY AGREE! My mom actually left the theater, but my brother and I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt so we stayed. And stared. And slept. And didn't laugh.
