High School Creative Writing Help Needed

I have been assigned to teach a multi-grade level high school creative writing class. The class is a semester class, but most of the students on my roster have signed up for both semesters. I will have no textbook for the class, only my imagination. What advice do you have for me to help me organize and build a syllabus for this class?

have the first assignment be a paper saying what everybody's strengths and weaknesses are, then you can either play to the strengths of the class, or you can try to rreinforce and strengthen their weaknesses. another thing to bring into question, do you want to be the teacher who is loved by all students and it is thought as an good class to take, make the assignments relatively long, but have them all due by the end of the semester/ marking period, (marking period reccommended) or you can have set due dates for everything, but the papers themselves will be easier than the marking period long assingments
