View Full Version : thoughtful/dumb question...

I got a list of these, they're thoughtprovoking,
and to me halarious,

If ghosts go through walls, why don’t they fall through the floor?

Why do people talk about ‘girlie’ things but never ‘boyie’ things?
(such a feminist question)

Can you dream of having a dream?

If Pinocchio said, “My nose is about to grow”, what would happen?
Why do ‘a fat chance’ and ‘a slim chance’ mean the same thing?
If you get a beer belly by drinking beer, do you get a pot belly by smoking pot?
If dawn breaks, does dusk come together?

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Does God believe that there are atheists?

ah questions questions

i love the beer one

i have actually dreamed that i was dreaming. causes great confusion, especially if you are the type of person that wakes alot. then you dont know if you are dreaming when you are awake or awake when you are dreaming.

heres one
If you dont know whether you are coming or going, then what are you doing? staying?

Yes, the beer one is very funny.

Here's an ancient one, similar to the Pinocchio sentence:

'All Corinthians lie', said the Corinthian.

'Fat chance' and 'slim chance' are easy - it's simply irony. But is it the same with 'I couldn't care less' and 'I could care less'. No irony there, is there?

About the ghosts: That's easy, too, because ghosts choose to walk through walls. (At least the ghosts I know ... :D )

When people say they could care less doesn't it mean they can care less?

When people say "At this point in time" aren't they too late? Hasn't that point in time already passed?

Perhaps they can if they want to but they don't want to use their special powers? :p

They do talk about boy-ish things! Check out the 'lit-net coffe for boys' thread my friend. :p

Can you dream of having a dream?

Why not! I think I once had something like this and then I woke up (in the dream).

If Pinocchio said, “My nose is about to grow”, what would happen?

It wouldn't grow because whatever you say doesn't necessarily have to happen. :p

Why do ‘a fat chance’ and ‘a slim chance’ mean the same thing?

I know someone who thinks a very slim girl is as ugly as a very fat one. That's rude of that person, calling other ugly on such basis! But perhaps some people like that person I know gathered up together and made this up?
If you get a beer belly by drinking beer, do you get a pot belly by smoking pot?

If dawn breaks, does dusk come together?

This question I have not understood. Sorry.

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Luck. Miracle.

Does God believe that there are atheists?

Yup, there is hell for you! :p

"If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?"

My spouse tells me that I have fear of failure; my shrink
said that I have fear of success. No wonder I can't get anything done!

Dreaming that we are dreaming, or realizing that you are dreaming is called lucid-dreaming. I only had one lucid dream. When you have one, since you are aware that you are dreaming, you can do whatever you like. Some people link lucid dreaming with astral projection (the theory which advocates that people can leave their body), but that's another question, and I'm alreday off-topic, as usual.:crash:

Yes, it has a name. ;) It is cool that you had a lot of those! In the only one that I had, I also chose to fly! It was marvelous, like I was on a rollercoaster but without the rollercoaster, I would say, if that makes sense.

i dream like that quite alot. someone once said to me that you cant chose what you dream, and i told them i could and do. Close enough to calling me a liar i'd say.:(

Well, you'll tell this person that he/she ignores some things. Of course you can lucid dream. There are persons who are in a nightmare, and suddenly they realize they are dreaming and consciously decide to change the events happening in the nightmare. Or they force themselves to wake up, as the other poster said. So you're not a liar.

Does the ability of lucid dreaming disappear with age? I haven't had one the last couple of years..

I have no idea, but I don't think so? I only had one lucid dream in my life, and I'm only 22, so if it disappears with age there are no high chances that I'll have another.:(

I've never had a lucid dream (in fact, most of my dreams are quite random, and after I wake up, in a few minutes, I can barely remember what I dreamed)... But I have read about lucid dreaming ;)

I've read about "Brain wave machines" that increase chances of lucid dreaming. It's like a mask that you wear that stimulates you while you sleep. It flashes lights and makes sounds at the same frequency of lucid-dreaming brain waves. They sell for like $200... So, instead you can make a cheap LED ligth thingy that you program to start flashing after a set amount of time (how long it takes for you to fall asleep) and then if train yourself that when you see flashing lights, it means your in a dream.

Here's the link explaining how to make your own cheap version (and you can buy the kit/a fully assembled one):

Sorry about going off topic earlier... Back on topic:

There is this one site that has a whole bunch of funny quotes/bumberstickers and other similar stuff... This page is filled with a whole bunch of similar questions (although some of them are stupid)

Some are stupid, all right, but some are very funny.

Here's another one:

How come the young couple could only get some rest after sondown?
