Hi there,

I am soon to start the preparations for my master thesis with the topic 'Mob Rules: Gender and Culture in the Italian American Mob Novels'. The problem is so far, that beside 'The Godfather' by Mario Puzo, 'Wise Guys' by Nicholas Pileggi, and soon to arrive here 'Bless Me, Father' written by Mary Kriegel, I am stuck. I cannot find any other valuable books by Italian American authors about the mob or about Italian culture related to the topic.

I would be grateful for any help.

Observations from an FBI agent who worked for 6 years undercover in the mob. It seems like it goes into detail on both mafia business and lifestyle.

Oddly enough, I had to jump at this when I saw your post. I've been doing a lot of background research on Frank Balistrieri (Milwaukee mafia) because I just moved into the neighborhood where he used to live... which, incidentally, lead me to also read about this FBI agent and the book he wrote.

Hope it helps! I haven't read any of it myself, so this is kind of a blind throw.

Thanks a lot to both of you. I am going to check out both Donnie Brasco books and the whole lot of these websites. I suppose three maybe four major novels in detail plus The Sopranos should suffice for a master thesis (or at least I hope so ;) ).
