News Flash: Grover Older

Well, I was thinking about a nice fruit salad for my dinner—
But as I do like the taste of papayas, I shall forgo it today.
Rather than feel like Hannibal Lector, I shall get a bit thinner—

One sets out to write a friend a bit of a poem just to cheer her,
But some will make personal remarks irregardless, bad form, that.
Hee. I guess I’ll pulled plenty of my own, and that without beer, (har!)
(Pst! Robin! I hid the seltzer bottle underneath Kathy’s striped hat!)
Well, Grover, how old might you be for this year shall we guess?
Have you managed to count that high, or ran out of finger and toes?
Did you get my present? (If you didn’t I know a bookstore I will press!)
I guess Snoopy still takes clients as a lawyer, I suppose?
Well, it has been jolly good fun, but alas, my time here is through:
