Just a bit of a celebratory post...I've just self-published my first book of poetry--Love Letters, A Poetry Dictionary. It has turned out beautifully, and I'm so thrilled to have realized such a beautiful dream of mine. All of the poems are written in Acrostic style, and the entirety of the book is a "dictionary." I'm looking to get it fully published-I recieved a review from the American Literary Press which read as follows:
"In Love Letters, Rebecca Gray, under the pseudonym Sterling Parker, crafts a dictionary of poetry that explores topics of love, friendship, religion, home, and the purpose of life, as well as lighthearted subjects such as golf and PMS. She displays a unique creativity, as each poem is in an Acrostic format that focuses on a specific theme. Readers will appreciate the accessibility of the poetry and admire Gray's ability to fit each poem to the letters that form the topic."
I'm thrilled...so will post a few of the poems from my book for your perusal.
PATTERNS
P atterns start with life experiences, and experiences
A lter you choices. If choices determine the
T ypes of person you are, and patterns determine the
T ypes of choices you're given, then the
E nd result is definitely not one of free choice.
R egurgitative choice is what I call it. It's your non-organic style of birth itself:
N o matter what you thought or did before you started, you're still
S urprised by what you end up with.
ART
A constant
R eminder that
T ime really does exist.
DAWN
D ripping, she spreads herself over night,
A ll her splendor a diamond cloak,
W ashing away blueness with her sunshine
N ecklace.
SUNRISE
S unlight seduces the sleeping world,
U ndressing her with
N aughty teeth. He
R emoves her undergarments slowly, an
I ntimate gesture that
S trips her completely and
E xposes her glowing skin to a naked sky.
