i have the hardcover version... haven't opened the packaging even. i will read it, just wondering who has finished reading it?

I bought it the day it came out and finished it a couple days after. It's the same story we've read before, just a few more details and a smoother narrative along with some beautiful drawings by Alan Lee.

I read it and liked it. It's not LOTR or the Hobbit, but the polishing of the story is beautiful and the illustrations by the talented Alan Lee make it well worth getting. I haven't bought it, though, I got it from the library.

What a pity that I haven't read this book!
I'm going to a website to search brief introduction of the novel and finding it could be a good book. Anyway I hope some opportunity to read it some day.
