Alright, who can't wait for Book 7 to come out? I preordered the book and just got an email from the bookstore telling me that I could come in on Friday morning to get a special bracelet that I could wear to secure my place in line later in the evening.

I have never actually attended one of these Harry Potter premiers at the bookstore and was wondering if I should go just to say I've been (but I will not be wearing any robes or carrying a wand or anything like that).

Anyway, let me know what your thoughts are on all of this and vote in the poll if you want.

Should I go wait in line on Friday to buy the book?

Hah there was no option in the poll to say that I preordered it months ago.

It should be delivered to my door on Saturday (I pray!).

You know, they have this countdown on bn.com that is kind of cool. On their site they say that they are going to have Harry Potter parties at select Barnes and Noble...I was kidding around with my fiancee about going to one, but now that I think about it, I could be Hermione. :p

I cannot wait to read it, I was hoping to reread number six, but it is buried deep within the storage unit right now.

Oh...let me know if you go ahead and wait in line and/or dress up...I'd like to know how that goes. It might be fun Shalot, you never know.

Oh wait. I WILL BE GONE!! Its so depressing...:( ...its cool though, I'll probably forget since I'm going to be living it up in MEXICO. But I'm still sad though...cause I have a tradition. Oh well. Life goes on.

As I always say, 'I think the books are a bit overrated, but I certainly read them'. In this case, I think they're overrated, but of course I preordered it when Borders asked me if I wanted to. 40% off! I haven't decided about Friday; I'll probably be bored and lonely, though, so I might...

Overrated...*sigh* I can't stand that word. And I'm not talking about your response. I just got told that my favorite band was overrated...so I'm a tad edgy. :D

Never mind.

That doesn't sound very nice. (My I ask who the band is?) It can indeed be irritating. Regarding the books, I only mean "overrated" in the sense that, while the books are worth reading, one tires of hearing about them on television and radio - and in one's local newspaper! ("Will the 'Potter Generation' be the next group of sci-fi/fantasy writers?", etc...)

Ömph... there's not an alternative for me. I'm definitely going to buy it, but I think I can wait a couple of weeks more. After all, I've been waiting for that book a long time and can wait a little longer :)

My friend in Korea surprised us and will send the book over to our place as soon as it released, but if not, i would probably wait in line at the bookstore and NOT wearing a costume:p

Since I'll be leaving soon I won't be able to buy, But i'll have the next best thing: MY DAD waiting in line wearing HIS wizard costume complete with devil symbols and his group of satanists buddies. If I can I'll make him take some pics.

Maybe I'll be able to get my parents into buying it, if not, then I'll have to borrow it... but I am not intent on getting it extremely soon.

Thanks mods/admin for deleting things related to Harry Potter spoilers. I want none of that!

I will be going to the Scholastic store in Manhattan. It is the first time I've done anything like that. And I won't be wearing a costume. I don't really get how it works as its my boyfriend whose figured out all the details. But I think we reserve our book earlier in the day or something and then get it later. I have this fear that we won't be able to get it . . . that or we'll miss the 1:40 am train home. :alien:

Wow! I wish my dad was a Potter fan at all, let alone such a hardcore one! So cool.

Mine is being delivered, hopefully here Saturday, like grace.

I received an email today that said my book is in transit. Hooray!! I won't be able to read it right away though, although I love Harry Potter, Don Quixote still has the upper hand.

I will be at the News Outlet Friday night which will be open for an hour for a reserved copy. I bought it for my beloved friend Brandy for her birthday (last March)--she and I have been exchanging presents for a couple of years now--not really sure how that started. I have her permission to check the ending--I'm stuck in the first quarter of Book 5 and no incentive to keep going just yet, I had zipped thru book 4 and crashed and burned in book 5 about the time Harry and crew are discussing special training sessions.

Well I pre-ordered it about a week ago...so I'm not gonna line up for it on Saturday....BUT...I will get my copy on Saturday....I might wake up early to be at the bookstore early...or I may stop by after I've done all my chores. There's no hurry because I got my copy reserved :D

I just realized I'm the only one so far who has voted for "I don't care. I don't want to read the book. "

THE WORLD HAS GONE HARRY POTTER CRAZY. SRSLY. Everywhere I look it's "Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter!"

You fans enjoy it. :) I'm just not into it at all, really. I used to be a fan when I was in fifth grade, but to be honest, I got extremely bored with the whole thing after while.

Kudos to J.K. Rowling for becoming so successful. Jeez, this is definitely going to be put in the pop culture books. It already has. Alongside Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean...I guess I'll be able to say, "Yes, I remember the Harry Potter craze." 50 years from now.

That's the best part! At least for me anyway, the book was a bit on the depressing side, along with a few things that made me furious with Rowling...but you'd have to read it before I say what those were.

You're a good friend mtpspur.

It's 10:45 pm here in the Eastern US and it looks like I won't be going to the big borders bash. I dropped by after work to get my special bracelet so that I could wait in line but I don't want to go.

I'll go get it in the morning I guess. Oh well.

I don't want to read the books myself, but my wife loves them. I got out of work before she did, so I picked up the bracelet and I had to be the one shackled. Union Square was a mad house. Not organized at all, but I left with the book by 1:00 am. Skipped to the end, and it's as I predicted.

Rotten meat!!!

So glad this is the last book, because I couldn't do it again.

I had it in hand at 12:08 am and left a voice mail for Brandy. Got home and perused it enough to satisfy my curiousity. Brandy should be pleased. Ruth has never wanted to read them and neither of us have seen the movies yet--they're a low priority on my DVD list of must/want to have. I suspect I'll wait til all seven movies are out then buy the boxed set. Something to look forward to.

Are you kidding me? Pirates is HUGE.Yeah, while it's running. Then it is going to go down and no one is going to remember it much. It happens with works like this. They are simple, so they are huge, but since they are simple, no one really remembers them.

Oh, was Union Square a mad house? The Scholastic Store wasn't too bad.

The best part was taking the subway back afterwards - I was on the N-R . . . Everyone was getting on with their books, and everyone was reading them. People got on at Prince Street (from the Scholastic Store), 8th Street (from the St. Marks Barnes and Noble, and 14th Street (from the Union Square Barnes & Noble). It was quite an experience. And then when I got to Penn Station to wait for my train, there were people in the waiting room reading it too. :) It was quite a unique experience. I've never done the midnight thing before, so I suppose if you had, it would not have been new.

I got my book yesterday morning and they gave me a copy with a wrinkled book jacket (they had them stacked behind the counter and were guarding them and an annoyed women was checking names off a list before handing the book over). I display traits of OCD about brand new books and I do not like to buy the ones with bent pages and ratty book jackets but that's what I have and I am slightly annoyed about that.

And later yesterday, I went to the grocery store and they had several copies for sale there and all of them looked perfect and no one was standing over those so I could have picked any one of those books I wanted. I was thinking I should have purchased my book there instead of from Borders but I was under the impression that the books would be sold out and I remember trying to buy book 5 only to find that those had been sold out so took the precaution and pre-ordered the thing this time.

On the bright side they gave me a free poster.

The important thing is that I got the book and finished it and was glad to see that Neville had a moment of triumph/heroism.

Also went to see Order of the Pheonix yesterday. I guess I was just expecting too much. I mean it was okay and all, but out of all of the books, that was the most boring and the movie seemed to drag on and on as well.

I am glad it's over and it's neat to think about a lot of people from different countries getting excited about a book and rushing out to buy it and spending the whole weekend reading it at the same time.

Bought the book yesterday and finished it today. It was a really enjoyable read which tied up the loose ends quite nicely. Just wished the epiloque had featured a bit more info on the occupations of the characters (apart from Neville of course). And a conversation between Harry and Snape at the very end had been nice so they could've been civil to each other for once. I hope his portrait hangs in Dumbledore's office at least.

Yeah, I love Harry Potter, but it is annoying to hear/read about it...but its only when they are coming out and with movies...

Oh and the bands were Radiohead and Led Zeppelin. PLEASE!

The day the book came out...I was in Mexico...with no book store within four hours of the little town I was in. Luckily I had distractions! I just bought mine and hour ago.
