Homecoming II

Underneath a polished dome of purest ivory,
Is the only place I have ever known as home.
No matter how far I may travel it’s always there with me—

It contains all my hopes, my dreams, and my memories.
Shades of the past and the future blend as one.
Underneath a polished dome of purest ivory—

A monument built unto the man that I probably ought to be—
Everything is laid out so I can take it easy when I don’t want to roam.
No matter how far I may travel it’s always there with me.

“Home is where the heart is” fits me so easily—
Or maybe anywhere this old heart of mine is, I’m at home…
Underneath a polished dome of purest ivory—

Exact location a well-kept secret known only unto me—
Who says “You can’t take it with you when you’re gone?”
No matter how far I may travel it’s always there with me—

Because you couldn’t separate me from it without an autopsy,
The mind is far bigger on the inside than on its outer shores…
Underneath a polished dome of purest ivory,
No matter how far I may travel it’s always there with me…

Hello Dale Harris,
I'm so glad for the direction your poem has taken...for me personally... it is truly uplifting and your journey is inspiring...
And I absolutely believe your quote "The road behind, not the road ahead, is the one forever barred to our footsteps." Not knowing 'Dale Harris' was Pendragon...I posted that quote in another forum....hope you don't mind....

Why should I mind being quoted? That's is a high honor! And in my own lifetime, also! Thank you, DebraSue!
