*just mulling over some **** this morning.*

when did you start when did we
stop
now you preface every description
of a run-in at
the mall at the bus
stop in your mind
with
"i'm not being racist
don't they know better
their blood my gloves i savedtheday"
it's been forever
since this phone was
blind
you say it's just a
description but i miss
hearing about people
their dreams and joys,
your daughters;
now strangers buoy
you with
their palettes your
crayons my receiver iscloggedwith
waxfromyourmouth.

did you think that i should
catch up on hatred?
when did you start
labeling
when did you stop being-
when did you-
when-

cut.
this take's finished.

*very unfortunate that this is what shopping for her little one's prom dress turned into...:(

I'm confused but stunned. I'm going to read it and keep reading it till I understand, because I sense something brilliant.

that's brilliant. [aware she quoted nearly the whole thing, doesn't really care] for some reason 'my receiver iscloggedwith waxfromyourmouth' made me think of somebody sticking a gun in their mouth... which is weird I guess I'm assuming you really meant phone receiver?

ballgown shopping is fun for about five seconds [prom dress=ballgown?]. When I'm done curtseying to the shop assistants. Some are amused. Some are not. [fyi don't try to pirouette, especially in a claustrophobic change room... in heels .... when there's a security camera.... I've said too much]

Most wonderful, Az. :) I didn't realize I hadn't posted a comment already.

I used to pretend I was ball-gown shopping when I wasn't really going to the prom. :D My mother repeatedly had to drag my friend and me from the store by force...but not before we had gotten in a good 2.5 hours of changing room time. (This was in Jr. High. By the time the real prom came around, I couldn't give a damn. :p)

faye, it was the receiver; interestingly, when you responded, i'd just finished rehashing this a few hours earlier - i like the gun/crayon comparison - she was hurt, said she had always valued our friendship, that she was just being descriptive, and got angry with me. and i hung up a little stunned as well, that she would try to tell me off right after saying how hurt she was. i mean, i understand that's how some people show hurt, but with me it's reaaaly ineffective. i'm not into anger.
and i basically find labelling to be a form of anger, i can't explain it, but there's a difference between saying someone did this, or someone helped, and this mexican person did this (which is what i was told). and i was disgusted re: i let her help me, but i put [the victim] into shock position, i had gloves. i mean, thank god, someone was there looking out for another human being!

i don't mean to be critical. people will do what they'll do. but i think the person does something, not their racial ancestry, and anyone who reaches out to another deserves thanks and gratitude, not me me me, look what mememe did!

em, i don't generally like to shop, but when in the mood, watch out! i could spend a day in the stores when the rare mood hits. :D

faye, i like the idea of curtsying to salespeople. :D
