I have to write a paper on this book and I am just going back to school after many years. I do not even know how or where to get started. Can anyone help?

Were you given any more guidance than just writing a paper??? I've been meaning to read this book again, so I'll try to get my hands on a copy and see if I can be any help. Try looking at the main themes of the text, or even do a paper examining the main character (sorry I can't remember her name at the moment). Were her actions justified or were they entirely selfish?

I'm sorry that this is off topic, but did you enjoy The Awakening? I don't know if I should read it...

I thought it was terrible, a good analogy would be a watered down, diet Madame Bovary.

We were not given other guidelines. The instructor said write a 5-6 page paper about "The Awakening". Use at least one outside source and expound on any aspect of it. That was it.

It was okay. I wouldnt knock anyone down trying to get a chance to read it though. Edna Pontellier is the main character and she is a trip. Save yourself the trouble and if you are interested read the Sparknotes.

I enjoyed, but I hated the characters if that makes a lot of sense. It made me really think about the role of a mother and what makes a parent.
